Calling all Anti-Princesses!

Robinrs
You poor thing :( I have only one sister and luckily she is not a girly girl either. :D

Some of you girls are too funny. LOL to Robin's comment about the Cinderella dress girls. I'll admit if I had a DD, and she wanted to wear one of those dresses, I'd buy it for her, but I do find them over the top.

Sorry, TOV. I'd love to join a club you start, but I AM a princess. I was born and raised one. A true IAP (Italian American Princess) doted on by my parents and older brothers from Day One.

I'm not super into grooming; I haven't had a manicure in years. Nonetheless, I am royalty and expect to be treated as such. Just ask my husband. :teeth:

Both DD and I are anti-princesses. Princess gowns and frilly dresses are a form of abuse in my book. DD wouldn't even attend a princess character breakfast at Cindy's that DU booked for us!

I am a hairdresser and it is sometimes tough for someone like me to be in this business and not be into the clothes, the hair (the wild kind anyway), the heavier makeup etc. But for twenty years I have managed. I work in jeans or khakis and Birkis or sneaks. I wear very little makeup because I have to so as not to scare people.

I did get DD to wear a WDW princess shirt. It is the one for little girls who like basketball which says, "Princess of the court". That is as close as I can get and I had to call and ask her if she'd wear it before I spent the $ on it.

Robin, your post was funny! But maybe you'd have gotten a DD like mine! Although it is hard to be 10 and be a tomboy sometimes; the girls are more into fashion and all and the boys don't want to play with girls too much. Someday that'll all change and the boys will be after her for her bass boat and fishing skills! LOL

makeup what's that? I never where that! My daughter is not a princess either. jeans and a comfy shirt for me. Also haven't you people heard of Lasik no contacts or glasses!!:sunny:

I am SOOOOOO glad I have a little boy. I have NEVER felt the need to play tea, dress up or do anyone's hair or nails....

Right on,Robin! That's why I'm so glad I have a DS instead of a DD. I'd rather play in the mud and talk about bugs and dinosaurs and blowing people up with explosives than dress up, or who's with who this week or why so and so hates so and so at this very moment even though they were best friends yesterday.:teeth:

TOV

I fit in this category and always have, but like some others I'm not much into watching sports. I never feel comfortable in pink clothes or flowery stuff. I wore coordinating tuxedos with my dates (one of whom is now my DH) to my proms. I don't wear make-up most of the time because I don't like how it feels. I own no pantyhose and just one dress - a nice black all-purpose one. I love my boot-cut jeans, my black Sporto boots, and my Nike Air Prestos. I buy most of my clothes at Eddie Bauer (in the women's department, mind you), and my purse is a little Eddie Bauer backpack. My blonde hair is quite short, and so are my unpainted fingernails (and no, I don't bite them.)

One of my concerns about having a baby (and I know it is an incredibly minor concern :) ), is what kind of hot pink frilly clothes I might get at the shower if the baby is a girl.

At the mention of the words "women's retreat" at church, I run away as fast as I can. But I must admit that I do have a great time going out with my close female friends from church - all of us in our 20's-40's. We won't mention some of the things we do or what we talk about, will we Celluloidgal ;)?

But I am 100% female, and I am glad to be a woman. I don't care if other people like girly girl stuff; I just don't. I am in no way a slob with my appearance - I guess I just have more of a unisex sense of style. And I am so blessed that my husband loves me just the way I am. He picked me :).

That's me, to a "T". I am a SAHM to DS4 and DS6, so I do not have to deal with "fluff and stuff" at all! I had baby dolls when I was little, but now I play with Hot Wheels and dinosaurs. I don't have a clue as to who all these fashion designers are, and thankfully don't care. I don't like to shop for shoes (I prefer bare feet) or clothes, except for my boys. Make up goes on rarely. Frankly, I don't know what I would do with a little girl, tea parties are not my thing. Glad to see that I am not alone..

All that being said, I wouldn't trade being a woman for all the tea in China...except maybe standing in line for the restrooms..;)

Yep, guys, I am a WOMAN, not a GIRL!

Hear me ROAR!

I have a friend who just adopted 4 little girls. She is determined to make them all JAPs because SHE'S one. Well, the girls are rebelling, and mostly they like to hang out with me! I took her oldest to Universal and we rode all the coasters and had a BALL! In the meantime her Mom stayed in the room to apply 3 hours worth of makeup to wear to a theme park...

I'm so glad to hear that some of you have non Princess girls. I thought that was a requirement on this board. LOL, Brenda, my son won't even go INTO the Cinderella castle much less attend a breakfast there! Thank God for that!

Before I had Michael my best friend told me that I was a 13yo BOY in disguise! Why? Because I loved comic books, video games and amusement parks. The disguise is the 4foot 11 inch girly girl looking person who is on the outside! Well, my son has 2 years to be ME, and he is thrilled to have this 13yo boy for a Mom!

ALL HAIL THE ANTI-PRINCESSES!!! UNITE!!!

I finally found a group on the DIS that I can belong to! :p

Sports...(except football), no makeup, cross trainers all the time, no heels, no dresses, no pink, no frills...... you can find me playing sports with the guys or sitting in my shorts and t-shirt (jeans and sweatshirt in the winter) while reading the DIS!

I carry a Nike nylon "purse" and love shopping in sporting goods stores. God knew what he was doing when he gave me two boys.... because I can't imagine the stares and glares as I would have raised a daughter exactly as I have raised my sons!!!! :teeth:
