I don't have anything against princesses or those who want to be just like them. They look good in their fancy dresses with their perfect makeup and great shoes and kickbutt dresses.

But....
this group is for all my fellow 'Anti-princesses'. The ones who'd rather go barefoot than wear a pair of Manolos, who'd rather have mud on their face than makeup, who'd rather spend their time getting their hands dirty than getting their nails done. The ones who are more interested in football than fashion, more into cars than stars, all the girls who willingly and proudly label themselves 'tomboys', who don't fit the mold, who refuse to be dressed up in frilly lacy things that require dry cleaning.

I'm one of those and I know there are more of you out there somewhere. Care to join me? :)

now i do love shoes..... and purses but i hate to dress up and wear dresses i have to have a really good reason before i wear a skirt. i love football and i never look cute at school because i would rather be comfy than look good. i do nothing with my hair because i like to pull it back and be able to sleep the extra hour in the morning!! looks like we have more in common than we thought eh??
my name is sarah and i proudly label myself a tomboy! just one that loves shoes!!
**Sarah**

I never looked cute at school either, Nemo. In High School, I usually just rolled out of bed and wore whatever was clean. I was made fun of because I didn't wear make up. Still don't wear the gunky stuff on a regular basis...only if I'm going out or it's a special occassion. And to me, fixing my hair means blowdrying it instead of letting it air dry and putting it up in a bun instead of a ponytail.:p

I can count on ONE hand the number of times I have worn a dress in the last 10 years.

Although I do enjoy the rare occassion when I get to dress up, let my hair flow free and get made up like a beauty Queen you are more likely to find me as you described.

Today I went out in public with jeans, a T-shirt and NO makeup! My long hair was pinned up and my long nails were natural. I know there are some women who would be :scared1: to get out of bed looking like that. I don't care on a daily basis. I'm clean and neat. If it's good enough for the guys it's good enough for me.

Every weekend now you can also find me hauling stuff home from Loews or Home Depot and digging around in the dirt. Hey, I even broke a nail last week. :sad2:

Back in High School I was a big shoe freak. A few bad ankle injuries stopped that.

If it's good enough for the guys it's good enough for me.

Amen to that. There were time in HS I wished I was a guy because they seem to have it so much easier with not as much pressure as girls to roll out of bed and look like a walking, talking Barbie doll.

I sort-of fit that. I'm not into sports and that kind of stuff, but I'm not into girlie stuff either. I always tell my friends that I'm not fru-fru.

Welcome to the group, chell. You are exactly the kind of girl I'm talking about. :)

There is a place in our mall now called Club Libby Lu that makes me shudder it's so fru-fru.

Thanks TOV! Wow, it's so nice to finally belong somewhere around here. :teeth:

You're welcome, chell. That's part of why I started this...I didn't feel like I fit into any of the other already established groups here. I figured hey..why not start my own? :teeth:

Count me in too! I don't like any of that stuff. Just can't get excited about shoes, or makeup or nail polish. I hate all forms of shopping. I don't like anything frilly, lacy or girly. If it's described as "feminine" that says keep away to me. I'm not tough enough to be described as a tomboy, but I'd rather get my hands dirty any day than sit through a manicure.

I'm not a girly-girl, I hate shoes, don't understand the facination with purses, rarely wear makeup, and I probably only wear pantyhose 2x a year. Can I join?
It helps that I have a career (forensic science and before that food chemistry) that discourages the wearing of jewelry and long nails due to contamination issues. The only jewelry I COULD wear for years was my wedding band.

Amen to that, sister! :) My MIL is constantly trying to 'glam' me up by buying me girlie things for birthdays and Christmas. I don't exchange said glammy things becaue I know it would hurt her feelings. I wear the item one time and then never wear it again.

See the line under my photos??? Okay, who wants their nails done first at this slumber party? :duck: :teeth: (I am a girly girl, but I would never consider myself a 'princess'. Please don't hate me... ;) )

Well, I'm young, but I totally fit that description!! As we speak, though, I AM wearing a skirt(YES I KNOW!) for the first time in....a while, because we had to dress up for our dance...blah.

I love sports, any sport, I play it, or watch it(especially running, basketball, baseball, hockey, and football). I don't like shoes, makeup, doing anything to my hair, or a lot of jewlery, and I would never say I was a 'princess'!!

I've been called many things, but I don't think I've ever been called a princess.:teeth: My dd is the princess in our family.:)

School dance? What's that? LOL...I never went to those either because at my school only the princesses went. The only school dance I attended in HS was my prom and I hated it. I did dress up though...Mom bought me a very old, very UGLY bridesmaid dress from a garage sale (while satin with big lavendar and yellow flowers..hideous!). Wore my hair up with so much hairspray that when I took the clip out, my hair stayed in place. Wore some really funky clog-heeled sandals that made me sprain my ankle.

That was the last time I 'dressed up' in the last decade or so except for my wedding and DSIL's wedding.

That is so me. I am always barefoot, have had the same backpack purse for the last 3 years( and it is the only one I own). I am always in shorts and a tank, when I fly back to WI to visit it's jeans and a sweatshirt. I love all sports, my hair is always in a ponytail and the only makeup I wear when I go out is eyeliner.
I love to hunt, fish, and play guitar. However I do love to cook but don't hate me just for that lol.

Hey..I cook. Sort of. If it comes out of a box or a bag, I can cook it! ::yes:: I also like to grill. Mmm...propane and propane accessories...*drool*

I love to bake...yes, but only because I enjoy eating what comes out of the process(rum is a must with my baked goods...especially the chocolate cake!!)

The school dances....everyone goes, I don't really dance, it's more a social event. Everyone stands around in groups talking while music blares and like teachers tell people they're to close...the only dancing is grinding(yuck) which I don't participate in...

What's your favorite article of clothing?? Mine is my very comfortable, logo sweatshirt(name of a HS on it)...it goes with every thing I own...it's the only accessorie I need ;) :teeth: !
