TINA, I am going to the ROCHESTER MUSEUM and PLANETARIUM with my sons school on Wednesday, are you near by so I can wave?? I am hoping we can still go if the snow is not that bad? Even if there is a delay we can still go since we are taking a COACH line bus at 730 am so the kids have to find their own way to school.. Maybe I should be asking you if we can crash at your house if the storm is still brewing. :teeth:

Doreen

Mary Rose my friend, welcome back. :cool1:  :cheer2: :Pinkbounc
We all missed you so much and we were very worried that something had happened. As it turns out something did happen, you got a job and you like it. That is fabulous! Now you have to stay around here with us! :grouphug:

Lyn

Hello Mary Rose,

Thanks for updating the list, and good luck on the job.

Wow 165 people Looks like the start of one wild party :cool1:
The returning cruisers for 2004 and us newbies who during the next 1 1/2 years (ok 17 months) will be well prepared and part of the family. I for one am looking forward to making many new friends. In the last week and after reading all the pages of this thead feel like one of the gang. :Pinkbounc

Tina, I just have to laugh, I understand some people buying the basic items, but some of these folks were stocking up for a six month snow in :rotfl2:

Hey Doreen dont forget about us CT folks too, Im on the other side of Long Island. :rotfl2:

Mary, with any luck this storm will run out of steam. Well I can hope.

MARY ROSE...I MISSED YOU!
I was so excited to see your post. Welcome back!

It is not easy to transition back into the workforce. Any potential employer who didn't give you high marks for the job you have been doing in the last 5 years deserves an inexperienced 18 year old who hasn't cut their teeth on responsibility, organization, commiment, multi-tasking, prioritzing, budget, management, transportation and endurance. Just my humble opinion.

Darlene

Mary Rose: Welcome back! I've been out of the work force for 10 years raising kids. I wonder how the powers that be will look at that time frame? It is not too many people that have the ability to stay home with their children nowadays & I always thought of it as a privilege. Now I'm hearing that they think less of you? That is just horrible! I hope when I finish school and apply for a teaching position that they look at this time as more experience....I hope! Thanks for all your hard work in organizing our list!

Terry: I don't know about you but I don't think I can take another foot of snow! Ahhhhhhh

Andy: That story you told about your daughter was very heart warming. I am so glad Angelina found you and Hazel!

Sue: Congrats on your daughter's award.

Lyn, Tina & Darlene: Good luck in dealing with your sons. I do NOT look forward to the day my little ones become teens!

To everyone else...hope all is well!
Diane

Ugg, Cant we just board the ship now? :confused3

Andy, I'm with you. I should have bought that snow blower.
Take it slow and dont over do. I know I plan on taking it slow.

Ok, To take our minds off the possbile noreaster.

I remember near the first month of postings a guess of how many pages would be posted by time of the cruise.

Well at the rate we are pounding them out, those guesses may be low. :rotfl2: ( Ok I know in the past couple of days I have been causing them to explan more quickly) :rotfl2:

Anyway:
What is your guess on what day we will hit 200 pages

I guess March 18th.

Thanks friends for the warm welcome back!!!!!

Sorry about the rant before. I knew I'd have to take a cut in pay for taking a few years off, what I didn't expect was for employers to act like I've been loafing for a few years. Staying home with my kids has been a great joy, but it's also been the lowest paying and, at times, most thankless job anyone can have LOL! Diane - you have nothing to worry about since you are pursuing a teaching career. Employers will see you as having been attending school rather than "just staying home" so I hope I didn't scare you. It's so funny too, when I worked when my kids were younger I couldn't imagine not working and staying home. Now that I have been home for five years, I couldn't imagine not being home and having to rejoining the workforce. Well guess what? I'm back to work for a month now and I'm just fine (and the kids are too, thank goodness)

Thanks again everyone. Here's hoping that all of us in the Northeast don't get too much snow tomorrow!!

-Carmen

Mary Rose - Congratulations on the job. I may be in your shoes in the next year or too. I also did accounting work, so maybe you can be my support team! My dd is 5 1/2 yrs. and I have been home that long. I worked from home for about a year, but then it did not work out. I am not looking forward to the attitude like we had time off. Most days it would be easier for me to be at work. It was a hard choice for me. My husband and mother really pushed. I am glad that I have had this time with her, but she is a handfull. I was actually looking forward to starting work again soon. :sad2:

Congratulations on the job, though, I hope you will continue to enjoy it. At least in HR and Payroll you will have adult conversations! :bitelip:

Thank you also for the welcome and for updating page 1. I look forward to chatting with everyone.

Diane - I agree with Mary Rose, you will have life experience. I also agree with every word you said!

Terry - Thank you for the warm welcome! I have no problem discussing much of anything. What you see is what you get. I guess that can be good or bad. I have suffered from SAD for....I guess about 10-15 years. Every year is different. It would vary on other things going on in your life. Although I have been offered medication in the past I never did take it. My husband was a little weird about it. I would always just wait it out. The funny thing is that after my daughter was born I did not have any symptoms till last winter. I started out sick in the fall and could not shake it. I attributed alot to that. I am not saying I was not sick, I am just saying that things were not getting better because of SAD. I think having my daughter being soo young, I didn't have time to sit around, which helped. Now I have more free time and hence I believe that is why it is back. I have no fix for you, but I can surely listen. Last winter hit me harder because I was not expecting it, in fact, it was almost spring before I figured out what was going on. That was the worst year. This year, I have tried to get out and not give in to the bed calling my name. My friends are aware and are supportive. Just get out, that is the best advise I can give you. Will you look for something else part time. Giving up your job was the best thing considering the situation, but you may need something that is just for you that will also keep you busy. I actually just spoke to the pharm. re: Zyban. Zyban is a form of Wellbutrin. It is used to assist smokers quit. I have been trying to have another baby for 4 1/2 years (long story), but I figured I couldn't and wouldn't quit till I found out I was pregnant. Well, the fertility doctor says I have to now. I am smoking nicotine free cig. and m now down to less then a half a pack a day. He says it would be safe, if I stop as soon as I know. I asked the pharm. and they agreed. Anyway, I was on Zyban once before, it helped to quit before I had my dd. I think it will help me because I am so stressed over this baby thing. So it may help in multiple ways! I have to say while on the drug I felt great and had little side effects. I think if it will make the winter easier for you, then take it. Maybe next year you will be prepared and it won't get too bad. If you do nothing, it could get worse before getting better. Anyway, who knows maybe you have Epsteinbar(sp?) or something totally unrelated to SAD. Either way I hope you are feeling better soon and I am always here to talk or just listen! Let me know when the results are in. And by the way...your sons' band playing may be overpowering the bed screaming your name!

Now as for everybody else....

Ed - I hope you left some food for me. I did not get a chance today and am going in the AM. At least I don't need milk, that is always the first thing to go! As far as that picture, :earseek: it is you who may be in that situation, I think down South Jersey it will be much less. :)

Lyn - Good luck with the malpractice case. I don't know your family's situation, but I hope it is resolved quickly and in your favor. I also hope your son is doing all right in CA. My cousin lives in SF, but is Costa Rica now.

Andy - I am sorry for your losses, I can't even imagine your sorrow. But as you said Angelina has been the light of you life. My thoughts are with your family. I am also sorry about your retirement news. I was really pulling for you, but those 5 yrs. will fly by! :sunny:

I also got the AP card. I only go 1 time a year, and know we only will be going for 1 week, so the AP discount is a little late for us. I may consider getting just one for the discounts though.

Ed - Thank you for the welcome and welcome to you too! You make me laugh, which is actually a very hard thing to do! So thank you! :teeth: Congratulations on the sleeping bag anf the tickets! Last trip my dd had an inflatable princess bed, cinderella sleeping bag and a few (gang) of stuffed disney friends. I am glad we drive, because if we flew I would need to ship stuff ahead of time :rotfl2:

Sue - Congratulations and good luck to Vicki! :cool1: :cool1: I hope she gets the top award!

Linda - Thanks for the welcome! I hope you enjoy your cruise. What line are you going on?

Doreen - I am sorry to hear that you are still under the weather. I hope you get better soon. Also glad to hear Jaclyn made it home before the snow. I hope Karen is doing better also. I envy you on the knitting...maybe you could set up a class on the boat? As far as the Big Red Boat, I just saw a picture today of the ship. My dd is star of the week and I was going through pictures. That was pre-husband sshhhh! I guess it was over 15 years ago. I loved the ship, but didn't have agreat time. The guy was .... lets just say not right for me. Was your room decked out in that :rolleyes1 ..green? I was wondering even though Disney didn'y own the ship, could I be seen as a repeat guest?

Tina - Enjoy you trip to LV. My dh wants to go soo bad. We are going to AC for 2 nights! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Darlene: I hope you had a great anniversary trip! I have not heard of that place. It sounds interesting though. I have to say, reading back on your posts I feel like I know you. My girlfriend Doreen's husband has cancer also. They are such a great family and it really breaks your heart. I hope that Stan does well this week and recovers fully soon. Our family's thoughts and prayers will continue to be with your family? Sorry the weekend with your ds has to be on a low note. I hope you will enjoy the rest of the time with them. Yes, I think we are still going to AC. We have my mom to stay with my dd. We have a comp at Bally's for Thurs. night and I booked a spa pkg. for 2 for Friday night. For $400.00 you get 1 night stay, 1 massage, 1 detox scrub, 1 wrap and a spa luch for 2. I think that is a great deal! :cool1: My husband just got promoted to a VP position and I am very proud of him. It has also been difficult with trying to have another baby, so, we could really use the time to reconnect. I can't wait! As for the snow, that is another story. :cold: When will spring come? .....Will spring come? :confused3

Hi to everyone else and hope you are all healthy and warm! :sunny:

Ed--page 200 your guess of March 18th is my mother's birthday. Your birthday of August 15th is also my brother Rob's birthday. My guess for page 200 is going to be March 25th. :confused3

It's 5am and no snow yet, but I have our local news on, and they just stated this could possibly be the worst snowfall of the season so far. Back on January 24th we had a 12" snowfall, this latest news dosen't make me very happy. :guilty:

Oh well, what are we going to do, we surely can't stop it.

Ed: 200 pages huh? :scratchin My guess is March 21st. Now I will do my part of course to help us achieve that. :cool1:

Heather:Thanks ! I am already making plans for Las Vegas. :Pinkbounc :bounce: I am looking into a tour for a helicopter into the Grand Canyon. They are all soooooo $$$$ I need to plan our time wisely since it's limited because this is a business trip for Chuck. I will have more free time then him. I was looking into doing the tour for both .......right now we are looking at around $700-$800 for us to do the tour UGH. :earseek:

Doreen: Keep me updated on the field trip. The snow is heading our way tonight...........I am ready. Are you?

Linda: Have a GREAT CRUISE !! :Pinkbounc :bounce: Wish I was with you on this cruise to. :boat:

Sue: Are you feeling any better? Sending pixie dust your way. :wizard:

Terry: Thanks for the e-mail. I look forward to :chat: with you.

Mary Rose: I am glad you got a job that you liked. Sorry you were treated the way you were. Vent anytime........just glad your back. :grouphug:

Andy: How's your knee been feeling? Please don't overdue after the storm. hmmmm maybe a little then could be resting a bit. I know I am bad. Take care of YOURSELF !!

Hello to everyone else I missed !! Tina

Andy: How's your knee been feeling? Please don't overdue after the storm. hmmmm maybe a little then could be resting a bit. I know I am bad. Take care of YOURSELF !!

The knee is aching a bit this morning, but no wonder why with the weather that is headed our way. Getting ready to leave to drop DD off at school, then I'm going into work early to get a head start on today's meter readings. I want to get as much done before noon as possible!!!

Take Care Everyone!!!

Hi everyone:

I have laryngitis and a sore throat, I can barely speak  I guess it's a good day to stay in and not talk, which will be hard for me. lol

Heather: Thanks so much for all of that info. My DH took Zyban when he was quitting smoking, too. I really am fighting this, this year. I don't know yet if this is SAD or not, since I haven't heard back from the doctor about the blood work. I do remember in previous years, before I had my sons, that I'd feel a bit of anxiety and sadness in the winters, but just like you said, when my sons were younger, I didn't really notice it. My mother died in the fall of 2003, so last winter (2004), I think that's why it really hit me hard. I was with her literally while she was dying, and it was very traumatic for me. At the time, we (my family and I) did what we had to do, but it really hits you afterwards, when you try and go back to your usual life. I am still not sure about taking the Wellbutrin, but I am still considering it. I'm going to wait and see how this week goes. Thanks again so much for sharing all of that with me.

MARY ROSE!!!!!!!! I am SO glad to "see" you again! I was really getting worried about you, I am so glad that you're back!!! It's great to hear that you are enjoying your new job. I bet I'd hear the same thing if I ever tried to get a "real" job again. And I'm even "worse" than you are, I quit working when my first son was born in 1988. LOL I've only been working that 1 day a week for our accountant because she had been asking me to, for years, and I did enjoy getting out to work once a week. Until my sons are older and on their own it'd be hard for me to get a regular fulltime job because I take the boys to NJ several times a year so they can see their dad and their families. I don't think too many companies would tolerate someone taking off so many weeks and days a year. :rolleyes1

Tina: I look forward to chatting with you too, once I get my voice back! :teeth:

Andy: Be careful out there today! ::yes::

Diane: I can't take another INCH of snow, nevermind another foot :sad2:
Our latest weather forecast is for up to 11" of snow. Shoot me now :faint:

Well heres my start to the 200 :cool1:

Good Morning all, No snow yet, but 6 to 10 is the lastest I am hearing in sw CT. Thats better than the 8 -14 they were saying last night. Time will only tell.

Heather: No the pic was not me, just some poor soul.
We are going to WDW in Aug, Will be driving this time. On way down doing a modified drive, CT to VA Then Autotrain to Fl.

Andy: Guess it really is a small world. Bday's and all.

Tina: Thanks for helping on the 200 :rotfl2:

Terry: Get well soon. At least you have email and the web, while you rest your voice.

Well Time to get back to work. Catch you all later. :moped:
