Here is the lastest weather statement for sw Ct.
... A significant coastal storm will affect the region Monday and
Monday night...
Developing low pressure over the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday will move
up the East Coast and intensify Monday and Monday night... as it
picks up Gulf and Atlantic moisture. Precipitation will likely begin
as snow during the day late Monday morning or Monday afternoon... but
then there is some uncertainty regarding precipitation type later
Monday into Monday evening. At this time... it looks as though New
York City and coastal areas may see a mix of rain and snow Monday
night as the low tracks southeast of Long Island and pulls slightly
warmer air in from off the ocean... while inland sections see an all
snow event with heavy accumulations. However... if the low takes a
track a little farther offshore than currently forecast...
precipitation would fall mainly as snow across the entire
region... with moderate to heavy accumulations possible all the way to
the coast.
Winds will also increase as the storm approaches. The potential
exists for wind gusts of 40 to 45 mph at the coast late Monday
afternoon and evening. These winds in combination with high
astronomical tides may cause coastal flooding and beach erosion.
The most prone area for coastal flooding at this time looks to be
western Long Island Sound.
The National Weather Service will continue to monitor this situation
through the weekend. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio and other
local media for further details or updates.
Let it stay inland. Dont want this thing offshore.
