Calling All 8/19/06 Special Western Cruisers! AKA "The Cruisin' Castaways" Part 2

Yes, we plan on rebooking onboard a temporary booking and then change it when the 2008 dates come out. We have decided on 8/16/08. That way when we get back we still have an entire week before the Labor Day weekend.

We're hoping its an Eastern itinerary as we've never done that one before.

That's exactly what we are doing .

SUE and VICKI.. I do wish you were sailing with us I will miss the chance to meet you, but perhaps another time. I do hope you and VIVKI have something equally wonderful to do this coming week in its place.


Ladies (and gentlemen) remember the lia sophia party at 130 pm MONDAYAUG 21 on DECK 9 or see me through out the cruise.. . Prizes will be given away.. for being on time, booking gifts,($100 in jewelry)and other fun games...

Doreen: Now that you changed the party for 1:30 does that mean you also want to get another kind of medal?? It just won't be the same if it's not all cruisin' castaways on one team.

Do you think it would be a bad idea to put a note in your suitcase saying " Please wrap everything back up the way you found it " First.......I am ONLY kidding. I don't think they would take to kindly to that. I have decided that I have no choice though to pack bubble wrap. Hope for the best.

Hi Dorren: Yesterday GOT BAD. Stomach was so upset and was in bed no energy. I am leaving in 15 min. to get my haircut. Before anyone else says anything no I am not getting any colors added. I am feeling better this morning, hoping to get things done before it's time for my nap.

Just wanted to wish everyone who's flying this weekend, a safe flight.

I called SW last night, and was told we (in the U.S.) can bring our cell phones, Ipods, cameras etc on in our carry on - just no liquids.

I also called DCL and was told that at this time, they do not have any restrictions, like the airlines, regarding carry ons. However, this could change. I can bring a bottle of wine onboard in my carry on (if I don't drink it first)

I'm really up in the air whether to fly or drive now. I don't know which is better for my mom. (or me cause I'm nervous about flying - yes, I know, I'm a Travel Agent who's afraid to fly)

Anyway wishing everyone a safe trip to Florida and looking forward to seeing everyone safely on DCL for our "MAGICal" cruise next week.

Bev: I am also scared but we can look at it this way. We are now ready for med. steps. No more baby steps. It can help us get ready for our big adventure of parailsailing ( sp ) together. Sorry I got the thumbs up from you know who. I now want to be able to do this even more so.

Actually I am going to be booking again onboard!! But this next cruise is in February and there's already a thread started which I've posted on a few times, but it's not a group like we have here. In fact, there are only a handful of people who've posted on it, and it's very sporadic. Maybe as it gets closer (it's already only 6 months away! lol), we'll get more people posting on it!

It will be GREAT to be rebooking while onboard the cruise, and I know some of you have mentioned booking again for August 2008, but just not sure I'll be part of that group. We'll see.. Maybe by the time our February cruise rolls around we'll know whether we can and/or want to cruise DCL in 2008 (We have a few other fairly large vacation ideas that we've been tossing around, just not sure that 2008 will be a cruise year or not).

Out of curiosity... how many of you are *considering* booking DCL again for summer 2008???

We will most likely rebook for August of 2008, but not sure if we will actually go. Better to rebook now and cancel later than the reverse!

I'd like to get in a trip to Italy in the next few years and as much as I enjoy DCL I'd bump it for a trip to Italy in a heartbeat!

I'm guessing I'll be watching how bad the delays are at Logan, but I'm starting to think we should leave an hour earlier. I would really hate to miss that first flight out.

I can't believe it's only one week away!!! How am I ever going to get through school this weekend? I'm too excited!!!

Terry - no one fired you, and I don't believe you quit, so you are still employed. Who's going to keep up with the "1 week since the cruise" etc and keeping the countdown for the August 08 cruise. Besides it's too hard to train someone new when you're so experienced and great at doing this.

Let's have a vote to reinstate Terry. I vote yes.

Since we know the times that people are leaving for this vacation, what time are people arriving at their destination. We're supposed to arrive at MCO around 1 pm on the 19th. Is anyone else arriving around that time? If we miss our flight, we might not be able to make Grills.

I'm planning to re-book for August 2008 onboard.

Anyone interested in having a pajama party - maybe at a movie or something?

Yes, August 16, 2008 would be Eastern again, unless DCL does something special for their 10th anniversary. I know Sue and Vicki are planning on sailing August 23, 2008 because Vicki wants to see Key West. My family has been on three Eastern cruises, so we might opt for the August 23rd cruise as well. Still too far out to make a definite choice, but we'll play it by ear for now.

Over Thanksgiving (2005) DCL had a special itinerary which included two stops at Castaway Cay since there is some boat race that happens in Key West during that time.

We enjoyed Double Dipping at CC (see photos below of both the Magic and Wonder in the same shot), but didn't see Key West and missed Grand Caymen too because the water was too rough to tender so although this cruise and our last one in November are western we may do the 08/23/08 also since the normal itinerary is KW, GC, CZ, and CC.

Besides the off-peak season prices start in mid-august so there is a fairly good chance that 08/16/08 could be peak and 08/23/08 off-peak. That is the reason I chose this cruise (08/19/06). The price from a cat 6 (which I orginally booked in 09/04) was $1,500 less than the same cruise two weeks earlier (08/05/06).

The choice was a no-brainer so keep an eye out for when the prices start to drop for (08/??/08).

This most likley will be my last one, finished work now, packing, now your time is USA time, I have amended my departure time to 5am UK (12 midnight EST) to allow more time ot get to the airport and go through security. However I think I will be departing the airport far later, my flight has been 6 hours late depating Thursday and Friday, the good news it did go, and safely.

May I wish all the very very nice people on this thread a brillient and wonderful and safe holiday.

I think that's what concerns me about putting certain things in my bags that we check. Since they are no longer locked, what are the chances they will still in one piece and the same spot when we get to MCO? I was given a portable DVD player this year. It has made the plane rides so much nicer.

I'll guess I'll keep reading........
