Hi everyone

What a great day :sunny: it is today. Got up early and decided to go out to eat for breakfast so we drove 1 1/2 hours to Shady Maple Smorgasbord near Lancaster. I love it there - the food and the ride. It was great having the whole family go. My kids don't always want to go and today was the first time my mom went out since she fell last month. I started the Atkins diet about 2 weeks ago, (was going to start before Halloween) and I finally lost a few pounds. Probably put it back on today. LOL

Laura - welcome to this fun group.

Tina - great pictures. Thanks for sharing

Terry - I forgot 4/24 is Passover and we are having a big family dinner here. I'd rather be with my DIS friends so do you know what time the brunch would be. I'll probably come with DD Lindsay.

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day.

Bev ::MickeyMo

Welcome Laurabearz! :) Glad to have you aboard! :boat: :sunny:

It was a GORGEOUS day here today! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: We've been on the go since early this morning, starting with taking both vehicles for their every-three thousand miles-service, out to breakfast, got the kids started on yard work while John and I went to Home Depot and loaded 144 20-pound decorative bricks into the back of our truck, then came home and along with the boys, we UNLOADED the 144 20-pound bricks...then finished the yard work including raking out the flower beds, and mowing. *whew* I just woke up from a little cat nap on the couch! :faint:

So far this is who I think can come to the NJ meet, please let me know if you want your name added to the list:

Me (Terry)
Lyn
Bev, DD Lindsay

Anyone else? Lyn, is your DH or DS coming too? John won't be with me, it'll only be me, because he doesn't have the vacation time to take that week off. Robby will be in NJ but with his dad, and Craig will be home in MA with John, and going to work.

Sue, I don't think you have any excuse not to come to the meet in New Jersey! :teleport: Teleport yourself over :earboy2: P.S. I'm still not over Diana's death, what a tragedy :( I don't give much thought to Charles or Camilla, but I hope they will both finally be happy, and more importantly, William and Harry. :)

Tina: No date set yet for the New England meet. How about we start with a month, and then all of us can narrow it down to the best day. The first Saturday in May and the first Saturday in June aren't good for us, but so far every other weekend in those months would be fine. Anyone want to pick a month?? :teeth: And thanks so much for sharing those pics, they are breathtaking! What an experience you must've had! :)

Barb: I am totally open to suggestions for the New England meet! :) Once we find out who wants to go, we can see where we all live and try and pick someplace that all of us would be able to get to, whether it be MA or wherever :)

Bev: My father goes to Shady Maple, but I've never been there. I really want to go there some day! :) It really was perfect weather today, wasn't it. We were definitely due for it :sunny:

Well, I recovered from a day of celebration!!! :goodvibes The limo picked up JACLYN and her friends at school and all the kids wondered who the LIMO was for. IT WAS GREAT!!! :cool1:

WE got on the road at 410 pm.. :moped: and got stuck at 430 pm.. Tina you would know this. We didnt move from EXIT 39 to EXIT 40 until 548pm.. Darn DOT didnt take the road signs down that said ROAD WORK AHEAD MERGE RIGHT.. so we all merged for no reason.. UGGGG!!! I called the restaurant.. We were late by 55 minutes...

Tina have you ever been there?? it was FANTASTIC!! they catered to JACLYN and here friends so well.. They had their own pvt area and my family and I were a few booths down from them.. The waiters and wait staff couldn't have been better.. BIAGGI's RESTAURANTE Rocks.. :bounce:

She plans on getting her driving permit on THURSDAY when her actual BIRTHDAY is..
I am not sure if there is enough hair color in the state to help me cover the gray hair she will give me.. :rotfl:

Laurabearz welcome to our group... feel free to jump right in. I hope you and your family feel very comfortable with us all.

Sue are you up for a meet with us next week??

Terry.. what time would the meet be. I am trying to get KAREN to come for the meet as well.. But you have to remember she has a bit further to come... What is the name of the town other than SAYREVILLE??? I know its RT 9 in NJ.. but how else can she find it with AAA??? If she come.. it would be me MARTY, Jaclyn, Karen and she is bringing DANIEL home to us.. if she doesnt come.. then we wont be there either since we will have to go down to VIRGINIA and get DANIEL...

BOBBY,CINDY,MARY ROSE,JOANNA comeout out where ever you are for a brunch with us.....

Doreen, here is the actual mailing address for Peter Pank Diner:

PETER PANK DINER
967 US HIGHWAY 9
SOUTH AMBOY, NJ 08879
732-721-2850

I just did a search on the internet and MOST of the websites have the WRONG area code and the wrong address for the diner. The above phone # and address are correct, I even just called the diner itself to verify :) The town IS Sayreville, but they apparently have a South Amboy address, which is not uncommon for that part of Sayreville.

I would *LOVE* to see Karen! When we travel from MA to VA, we use NJ as a half-way point! Maybe you guys can meet in NJ and for the Daniel Exchange :teeth:

Just did a little check on the DCL website. I saw our category 9 cabin price (for the three of us) has increased by $1200.00 since January, it sure pays to book as early as possible with DCL!!! I still saw quite a few cabin selections available for the Cruisin' Castaways 2006 Cruise.

Andy,

We booked a lot later than you and our cat 6 has already gone up $607.00

Terry Not sure how early June is gonna shape out yet,
We are trying to plan an early Bday party for Caitlin for the First or 2nd Saturday in June. Having a problem trying to get a place she will like,( A very picky 8 yo LOL. So it begins. ah where did my princess go :sad2: :confused3

Tina,
Thanks for sharing the photos.
I visited the Grand Canyon back in 1992. Thanks for bring back some of my memorys for that trip :cool1:

Sue,
The weather here is Sunny :sunny: and in the upper 50's
I think spring has arrived :jumping1:

My new car is a dream to drive, and it has a sun roof too . Been using the sun roof on the drive to and from work.

Mary, I too had to use some of cruise payment, but I have plenty of time to make it up. I so needed this car, I feel so great driving it. Driving is fun again.

Arrived home from the birthday party a few minutes ago. We had a very nice time, it was colder down near the shore than it was up here, but it was still quite :sunny: . When we went to leave tonight to come home, I had to "RUN" to the car, get it started, and turn the heater on "FULL BLAST!!!"

Terry--I might be flying down to Florida for the weekend of April 23 & 24, as a 50th Birthday present to myself, so we probably wouldn't be able to make the NJ meet.

It's been a very long day, I've been up since 3:45am and I still have a few more messages to check, so I'm signing off for now.

Laura -- looks as if our kids are the same age - and/or will be the same age on the cruise! DD just turned 6 last week and DS turns 2 next week, so they'll all be in the same brackets. How is your DD with a computer? We ought to get the girls hooked up on e-mail or with pix or something......of course, I'm sure the idea of waiting 16 or 17 months for something will be inconceivable to them?!

Awesome! Maybe we should wait a couple months/year to introduce them! :wave2: BTW DD is quite good with the computer.

Welcome aboard Barb and Family

Andy,

A quick trip to FL sounds like a great Bday present to yourself.

Hey gang! Sorry that I've been out of touch, but life has been rather berserk latey.

Sue - Happy belated birthdy. I guess that we'll both be at the dis-meet in spirit.

Andy - Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your knee again. I keep looking for a body-shop that will sell me a new body. If I run across one I'll let you know. LOL

Lisa - Late birthday greetings and good wishes to you too!

Doreen - Congrats to Daniel! Devin is quite a brain too. My problem with him is motivation. He would rather play around than do school work. I just had a discussion with him yesterday about how school is the training ground for the working world and he needs to work some on his 'work ethic'. I have another appointment with the periodonist on Wednesday. He thinks that he can repair my splint rather than having to replace it. (I destroy them by grinding so hard that I crack them - on both sides!) The doc is worried about my bite. It looks like I hit on the right side before I do on the left at this point. I have to clamp down hard to make the left side close tight. He's talking about me having an MRI on my jaw to see whether the joint on the right side is starting to deteriorate.

Carol - Welcome to our crazy little family!

Diane, Bev & Mary - Good luck in school. Glad that I'm done with school, at least in the formal sense. Being in the IT industry, my education never ends. The company requires us to do training on a regular basis to keep our skills up-to-date. (Ed should be familiar with that scenario, too.)

Tina - Glad that you had a great trip to Vegas. I hope to make a trip to the Grand Canyon sometime in the future as well.

Ginny - Sorry that your husband didn't get the job in Florida. I admire anyone that has the time and fortitude to put on a garage sale. I really should, but it's just so much easier to gather up the stuff I don't want anymore and donate it to the local Battered Womens Shelter here in town. They really appreciate it, because many women get out with only the clothes on their back.

Darlene - A trip to the Bronx zoo, huh? I've always wanted to visit New York. It's on my "Places to visit before I die list" as well.

Lyn - I haven't heard anything from DCL about the passport thing. But being so close to the Canadian border here, it was plastered all over our news this last week. It will also affect folks that want to travel up to Canada or down to Mexico.

Laura - Welcome to you too! I had to laugh about your son's "nickname" (stinkerboy). By the time Devin was three he had gained the nickname "booger", because he can be such a little 'educated donkey'. I have no idea where he gets it! :rolleyes1 (just both parents!)

Barb - Welcome! Gee, are we gonna have to call you guys Barb1 and Barb2, just to keep you straight? :rotfl:

To anyone else I missed - I hope that life is treating you well.

Now, I have something to say that I don't want to, but need to...
I'm afraid that I'm going to have to let you guys down. I'm not going to be able to make two different t-shirts for this group, it's just getting too large. I figured out that I would have to make about one t-shirt a day for the next year to cover everyone and I just don't see it happening. (I need time to sleep, work, clean house, etc.) I still plan to do the t-shirt for the Hurricane Frances survivors. (that's a much smaller group and I can pull that one off.) I would like to recommend we use the t-shirts that Andy designed as the 'official' t-shirts for the Cruisin' Castaways group. (Andy, can you post the link again?) I'm really sorry about this, I feel badly about pulling back my offer! :sad1:

Now to something lighter...
The rest of my office furniture is due to show up on Thursday. So, by the end of next weekend, I should have my home office completely set-up (except for the high-speed internet connection). I'm really looking forward to working from home full-time. I did it this last week, since Devin was on spring break from school. It really worked out well. (Especially since I spent most of the week fighting a moderate case of the flu. You should have seen my sitting at my desk wrapped up in a blanket the other day. But, I was able to get quite a bit done.)

Take care and I'll yak at y'all later!

Dori :cool1:

Dori,

Good to hear from you, Glad the home office is comming together.
You are going to love the cable modem once you have it set up.

I think in IT its not so much that the education never stops, but we just absorb new things by touch or look. Its the nature of the beast we work with.

Dont feel bad about the Tee shirts, we are at 170 plus at this point and the way its going I'm still laying odds we will be at over 200 at this rate.

We were on a Western cruise in 03 with many DISers. One family bought lime green & light blue tshirts and sold them for our cruise (I believe $10 ea). They say "To be a kid again Disney cruise" w/the date. Not sure where he ordered them from. But we could all recognize each other which was nice.

He also had a newsletter emailed out several times before our cruise.

He brought a bubble machine and most of us were on Deck 10 looking down at the sailaway party as we left port.
That Mon (first sea day) we had a wine tasting party on the back of deck 7. We all brought a bottle or 2 onboard w/us and shared. Brought cheese platters from room service. May be an idea for us too?
In Cozumel we all got together for a DIS mini-golf tournament. Sally closed down her place except for us DISers.
In Grand Cayman we had a boat reserved for snorkeling.
Some of us sat together for a while at Castaway Cay.

Dori--the link has been in my signature ever since I first posted the design, I guess that no one has noticed it being there, and I didn't want to keep bringing mention to it. Here is the link that will take you to the Cafepress site where my design is: The Cruisin' Castaways 2006 As I said earlier, the link is also found in the bottom of my signature box.

WELCOME TO ALL THE NEW CASTAWAY CRUISERS!

Dori
Don't worry about the t-shirts, I'm sure everyone understands. And you are welcome to jump in on our Bronx Zoo trip. Glad to hear the home office is shaping up the way you want it too. Hang in there through the transition.

Ginny
Good going with the garage sale! That should pay for a lot of ice!!

Doreen
I hear that Ginny is buying all the ice with her garage sale money. Sounds like Jaclyn's birthday was wonderful. Was it her first time in a limo? I had my first ride in a limo when I was 40 years old, and that was just for a few short blocks taking us to Stan's swearing in as Deputy Chief.

Terry
I would love to have breakfast and see you all on the 24th but I don't think it is going to work out. I have tickets to the Three Little Bakers Dinner Theater in Delaware that afternoon. And Stan is taking Sandy to her Girl Scout Banquet. I will miss you all!

Andy
A weekend visit to Florida is the perfect gift to yourself!

Tina
I haven't had a chance to look at your pictures yet but I can't wait see them.

Later,
Darlene
