Okay, so I'm really new to all this Disney stuff. I keep reading about people calling and seeing if they have any deal availabe for the week they are going. My question...do you already have a reservation when you call, or are you still looking for a deal when you call? What do I say when I call? What do I say if I already have a reservation and am looking for a better rate?

Also, I read about people calling and asking if they have any special discounts under their name...what is that about??

Sorry if these are totally stupid questions...I just don't want to sound dumb when i call!!!

Hi Kristen,

Not at all a stupid question.

For starters, can we assume that you have the AAA discount? It ranges from 10% to 20% and there's no mystery as to how to get one; simply join AAA and then book your trip using the AAA discount.

As to the codes themselves, you have to start off by being in the computer system. So order the trip planning DVD, price out some reservations at the reservations site, even consider signing up for the Disney Visa; no one is really sure just how some people qualify for those codes.

Call the reservations number, and ask them to check you name (and your spouse's, even the names of your kids if you think it might help) along with your maiden name if that applies. You just want to check and see whether by any chance there's a code attached to your name. If not, then ask whether by any chance there's any sort of a special that would decrease your price.

It's certainly worth a shot!!
