WOW I called today and no more DVC resorts have a studio available for our dates in March. I was shocked! This was the first time I have ever had a problem getting my resort choice no less a room enywhere in DVC. Is march always crowded or is there something special going on? I am actually waitlisting hoping for one to open up.

March is pretty much primetime for visitors to Florida -- cold winters, Spring Break vacations, Spring Training, all draw folks. I don't think it's anything that unusual -- just a busy time on short notice. If you put your name on a waitlist, there's a chance something may come through as folks finalize their plans.

Yes March is busy. It is considered Spring Break. I know our schools are out the 2nd week in March this year.

I have a March trip planned and we had to waitlist but it did come thru.:wizard:

Extra magic for your waitlist:wizard:

well, it is Spring break so that is most of it. I know when I called it was about the 15th of Jan and I didn't think I would get one. But I did luck out with SS but none of the others had all my days available. Good Luck! Hope to see you there!

My sister was thinking of joining us in June. The only studio left was OKW.

Don't feel bad - I called today for a studio, one or two bedroom, and nothing available for 2/22!!! NOTHING!!! ANYWHERE!!!!

Well I wish it were for us but we are giving my inlaws a trip. So it is actually for them we aren't going :( Maybe in august :) I hope it comes through though it is a lousy gift if it doesn't lol.

Just gave up a standard view studio at BWV for March 6 through March 8, checking out on the 9th.

I'm not surprised that people are having difficulty getting ressies 1-2 months out.

What does surprise me is that anyone is succeeding! But some are, despite the odds.

Good luck and have a great trip!

I booked March 11-16th, a studio, about 2 weeks ago and got one of the last studios left in SSR. I'm waitlisted at BWV, but I'm kind of excited to try someplace new. Keep trying, you might get lucky!

ITA. If there were rooms available at 1-2 months out, especially during Spring Break or December, I'd be worried about DVC.

OP - you still ought to waitlist, because there is often a good bit of movement prior to the last cancellation date.

On our trip last November (Jersey Week, Soap Opera Weekend, Food and Wine Festival), we got all our waitlist nights for a 2 bedroom at VWL pretty early, except for the first day. I booked a 1 bedroom as back up. I was within the 7 days and had to call MS EVERYDAY, and within 3 days of our trip, our waitlist came through. When we were checking in at the Wilderness Lodge, they were turning people away and offering them a free night and upgraded view at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. That is how booked they were!
So, the moral. Hang in there! Not only are you hoping for your room to open up, but maybe someone else's waitlist that booked your room as a back up!
I do believe in FAIRIES!
Pixie Dust to ALL on waitlist! I know how nerve-racking that is!

Should I do day by day waitlist? I did all of the days at once.

Keep trying.... availability changes every day. Last year we took a last minute trip and I was able to book a studio at SSR five weeks out. Around the 30 day mark some people will give up their reservations and you will probably be able to get one if you waitlist.

What are your dates? If they are the week before Easter I know BWV, BC and WL have been booked for awhile. As far as the waitlist can you get any of your dates? If you can, you could waitlist around those dates and if you are willing to change resorts you could waitlist for more than one resort. Good luck - hope something opens up for your soon!

I was able to get a studio for one night March 3rd at SSR just a few days ago. Found out we would be able to get there one night early. Staying in a one bedroom for the rest of the week. Good luck to you.pixiedust:

Yes, keep checking around the 30-31 day mark. I called one month to the day prior to our arrival date to request a studio at SSR and got the ressie on the spot.

This was a last minute trip, btw, so that's why the late booking. I actually didn't plan to call at the one month mark, it just worked out that way, but this may prove to be a worthwhile strategy.

Good luck!

I booked a 1 BRV last week for 3/14-18, only availability was at SS. We've never stayed there so we're happy to try it out.
