called to add FD pin and total went up $400?

I booked on May 2nd for a 9 day package with tickets at CSR for 11/14-11/22 this year. Total was about $2600. I booked it on the Disney web site and it did not state I was given any discounts and I searched before booking and did not find any promos currently out for November. I was under the impression I was booking rack rate for the time frame, and would just call to apply any promos if one came out.

Well, yesterday I received a free dining pin and I just called to apply it since my dates fell within it, and the CM on the phone advised my new total would be about $3000, since you cannot stack discounts and FD means you pay rack rate for the room (which I knew).

So, anyone know of any general public offers that were out for November that maybe I missed and could have inadvertently booked online without selecting anything? Is Disney slipping discounts in now or something without guests knowing? I'm thinking something is off here and will call back when I have more time to sit on hold... :confused3

I would call back, I booked around the same time in May and there was no room discounts for November at that time. It sounds like she/he are confusing the summer rack rate with the fall rate which is value season. My sister and I were online looking at the diff.between your 9 days and 9 days in peak season and the diff.was about 400$
 
Make sure you're comparing apples to apples, too. The price you got with your original booking may have included a different room type or tickets. A preferred room for that time is about $225 more than standard view, if the CM was also including hoppers vs. base tickets, that could be the price difference.

my thoughts exactly chances are she added/ changed something. Did you book trip insurance with you original booking? Could she have added that in?
 

Ours went up too however standard rooms were not available at POR so we had to upgrade to Garden View which was more of course.
 
I am amazed by this. Free dining saves us so much!!! Of course, our package is booked with the exact perks that I want now without free dining, so I see the actual price. We have 10 day park hoppers and dining on our package at this time. Then if I get free dining, my package will go down by about $2000. I could upgrade room type and still save a lot. However, the only upgrade I may consider is preferred from standard.

Sorry that some people are paying more. Doesn't exactly feel like a discount then. I would likely just say no thank you, if that happened to me.
 
I think they increased the resort rates. Last week I was going to book a room at a Pop for 3 nights in December but rather than transfer money from one account to another I just decided to wait until today when I got paid. Now when I look at the rates for the same time it ended up costing me $75.38 more. I should have taken the 2 minutes to transfer the money.
 
When I booked yesterday with the free dining pin, I did so by phone, but had already looked at the amount totals online. The CM gave me a price that was more than the one I saw online, even though the room category was the same. I mentioned that the price was more than I had figured online, and he said "oh I guess I can remove the Photopass" that he had not even MENTIONED he was adding. When he did that, the price came to what I thought it would be, to the penny. Just a heads up to make sure that no one is adding stuff you didn't request when you call.

But this has been determined not to be the case. Room rates have not gone up.

Not possible. Room rates were set last year and have not changed. Perhaps the room type was different.
