called by last name

As a teacher, I get called by my last name all the time. Granted it is Mrs. LASTNAME but still. I have a few students who skip the Mrs and just call me LASTNAME.

I regularly go on a girls trips with two close friends. One of them has the same first and middle name as I do. So all three of us go by last name while together or talking to each other about the other. Just is easier that way. I also have a few friends and family by marriage who share my name as well. Its not a real common name, so its funny I know so many who share it with me. Did a girls trip a couple years ago with 12 women. There were four of us with the same first name. Last names were used for two of us, one had their first and middle name used, the other just went by her first name. Just how it worked. No one cared.

We used to have 5 Mikes at work so we called them by their last name or a shortened version of it. Just made it easier. None of them work here anymore but I still know one of them and still call him by his last name.

My husbands's immediate work group consists of about 8 people. My husband and two other's have the same first name (Tony). So, they are called by their last name just to avoid confusion. Everyone else is called by their first name.

I'll never forgot when I was in 3rd grade, there were two Amanda's in class. For some reason, the teacher decided to call me by my middle name all year, which was a little strange and I never really liked. It must have really bugged me to remember that all these years later.

This conversation reminded me that my husband has quite a few Somalians that work for him and that includes 3 guys that have the exact same first and last name. I'll have to ask him how they know which one he is talking to over the radio.

I find it annoying when people do it to me, but don't call them out on it. I do however call my husband by his first and last name at times, just because I like how it flows. Hahahah!!

Call me by my first name or Mrs./Ms LastName. If you bark just my last name at me, you won't get an answer.

I have a few friends who only call me by my last name or a doctored up version of it, and some that use only my first name. I also have friends that I only use their last name when I am speaking to them.

My kids are very close in age and are always referred to by our last name as if they are one person.

My husband is never called by our last name, which makes him a little upset that I am called it so frequently. :p

It wouldn't bother me. I do however think it is obnoxious when someone insists that their child call me Mrs. Mouse House Mama when I have stated that I prefer to be called by my first name. Don't tell me you are teaching your child manners so they must call me Mrs. Mouse House Mama because calling me a name that I don't prefer is rude. I mean, what if I thought it was polite to call that parent Mr./Mrs. Butthead? I bet they wouldn't think that was too polite. Just saying...:scratchin

Doesn't bother me. I grew up being called by my last name pretty regularly. (My maiden name is a fairly well known first name as well, with one particularly famous person having it. So, I was even more often called by HIS last name than my own.)

I don't think I've ever really been called by my married last name alone (Mrs. Lastname, yes, just not Lastname alone)& don't know if I would respond to it, just because it doesn't seem like "my name". But if it was done often enough, I would.

There are two men at my work who go by their last names solely. One of them, I thought his last name WAS his first name for the longest time.

My husband is a junior. Instead of calling him by one of the many variations of his 1st name, or even his middle name, his demented parents called him Scotty (last name is Scott)

I love being called by my last name at work. I work in a male-dominated field, so when one of the guys calls me by my last name it makes me feel included and accepted. The office "hottie" used to call me by my last name, which somehow made me feel super cool!! LOL Unfortunately he doesn't work in our office anymore. :rotfl2:

When DW addresses me as Mr.MyLastName, I know I'm in trouble.

My last name is also a girl's name, so I get called by that ALL the time! People usually don't realize they're doing it and I don't mind at all.
My first name is Kylie and the guy with whom I work is named Kurt and clients will call one of us "Kyle" all the time. It's usually not clear who they mean, but it doesn't bother me once we figure out who they're addressing!
