Call room assigners to confirm requests?

Last year I had reservations at 3 different villas. None of my room location requests were honored. I know that it is not guaranteed to get your wishes, but they told me that there were no requests listed at all. I had given requests to Member Services when I made the reservation. The front desk said that I should call the resort directly. Does anyone know the direct number to make these requests at the Boardwalk and Polynesian? I need to make requests for our 2 studios to be near each other (and connecting at Poly) and you can't do that for online check in. I also have one other request that is not an option for auto check in. Thanks!

Call MS or send an e-mail from the member website, do not add any request(s) online; if you do online request(s) it overrides whatever you may have submitted by way of MS.
If anyone gives you the phone number for the resort, it will be to the call center not directly to the resort; unless you can get a CM to give you the backdoor number to the resort(s).

I would make my requests via e-mail. If you're concerned about them receiving the requests you would be able to print off the e-mail and the response.

I believe that the advice to contact the resort directly was not accurate.

It is basically impossible to directly call the resort. Even from a room AT the resort, you get a call center, and their screen pops up what they're supposed to answer as.

I always put in a room request and RARELY get them. I used to always call so last time I emailed....very specifically even down to preferred villa numbers (and I included like 12 of them). We got the right building but nowhere close to any of the villas that I had requested so I'm convinced it's just total luck of the draw. If you're a lucky duck in general then you'll probably get your request. If you're like me and nothing ever works out then you'll not get lucky with this either. I also never do the online checkin ahead of time because I want to see when we arrive if we're getting anything close to our requests. Never works. Did not make a difference to email vs calling. But I keep trying....just like Dory....

Use the contact link on the member website. You will receive an email when the request has been added to the reservation. 30 days prior to check in we always contact MS and DME again to verify the reservation/requests. Your success depends on what you are requesting, how many of those rooms are available at the time you are checking in.

Like Annie, I too request all the time. Sometimes calling ms, sometimes emailing via contact us. I know they get put on because recently I called and while on the phone I asked if I had made any request, and she read them back. I often have 8-10 reservations, so I lose track. I almost never, ever get them. Keep in mind if you do get a request, you need to put them in order of importance, because you might get the first one. I now just ask for a high floor when at BWV, since I stay there the most. I use to ask to not be near the lobby, but they kept putting me near the lobby. While at BLT last month, I asked for higher floor, north side. I got ground floor, south side. I still keep asking and requesting, but my expectations are pretty low.

I almost never get mine either. They are there, but DVC doesn't, in general, pay too much attention to them in my experience.

Member services is supposed to add the requests.

DVC doesn't assign rooms, the resort, an entirely different department does.

I know that. But they don't seem to pay too much attention to it on the DVC side in my experience. They might pay more attention to it on the resort side, but its been fifteen years since I've booked a cash room.

All DVC does is add your request to your reservation record by checking boxes or adding a free form note. Your request is no more important to them then your reservation is.

To us we think that we are special, to DVC we are just another reservation, one of thousands. That doesn't mean that they do not want to do a good job but again they are just regular people, some better than others. We find errors often, that's why we double check requests 30 days prior to check in.

Everyone on the resorts board talks about faxing requests to the resort three days in advance. I think they have the numbers listed on a thread there. Not sure what good it will do for DVC resorts, but maybe it will work for the shared resorts.

DVC has asked us not to do that. We are supposed to work through Member Services.

Not doubting you, but when and where has DVC asked us not to do that? I haven't done it. Our last stay was at VWL and I usually always requested pool view. Since the pool was replaced with construction fencing, I didn't request anything. I've always done my requests through MS, but the last stay we had at BLT they didn't have any requests noted for me even though I had made them, and doubled checked on them during a later phone conversation. In all our stays we've probably gotten our requests about half the time. But I've never heard or seen anything from DVC about not faxing requests. Where did you hear/see this?

I think what happens many times is when they can't give you your requests they simply say they did not receive them.

Its been a fairly regular message in Disney Files over the years. We've been told that the only requests taken into account were the ones on the reservation made by member services. Calls to the resort and faxes were ignored for DVC rooms.

Sammie, I agree. Its much easier to blame way down the line.

Well that would make sense because the room we had a BLT was the complete opposite in every way of what I requested! Lol But it didn't matter, we still had a great stay anyway.

Been there - ask for a high floor - discover how convenient a low floor is when you want to swim!
