Am I the only one that isn't bummed about the CP being offered the way it is? I feel like those that will flock to it will give me more of an opportunity to wait less time in line for rides and food(only an assumption as I have no idea really what to expect ;) ). I haven't been to DL in 7 years and this is the first I've ever heard of the CP (embarrassed to admit).

Either way I'm happy for those that do get to attend it and I wish everyone a great upcoming trip!

25 days to go!

Nice positive spin! You make good points. I was trying to find the good in all of this the last 24 hours. I needed to hear the positive. :goodvibes

The only downside I can see is trying to leave the park in the evening. Those of us 'in the know' will likely flock to the monorail instead of going through the front entrance.

I'm not upset either. If I had a complaint about it at all, it would be that they are offering it for so many days.
We've been to the parks twice in December. Both times (2003 and 2008) we happened to be there during CP weekend. The first time it didnt really seem to effect us one way or the other. We missed it entirely. The 2nd time we caught part of the choirs going up main street. it was beautiful to watch and listen to. I couldnt believe how early people started lining up to get spots on main street.

This year I really wanted to avoid CP all together. But, with 20 days of it planned, that was impossible for us, as we do want to be back home for the actual holiday.

I agree completely. We have never been show people, that time is the best time for rides in my opinion. I do feel bad for the people who had their hopes up for seeing it though. Also I like the idea of leaving the park on the monorail at that time.

Given that Disneyland has always been notoriously packed on CP days in the recent past - and that was on the invitation-only days - I think it will continue to be packed again on the other CP days that are going to be more 'available' (though not really that available).

Plus, because the CP affects the parade and fireworks schedule, there will be lots and lots of people cluttered up on Main Street and around the Hub before the CP, between CP's and after the CP. There will be people packed into other areas of Disneyland earlier in the day, before the CP starts.

I know it would be nice to think that everyone will rush to see the CP and that the lines for all of the other rides will miraculously dwindle way down, but there are a lot of people who have no interest in the CP at all because they are not religious or just do not celebrate Christmas (it's a more polarizing event than, say, fireworks or parades)...and those will be the people who are back in the lines for the rides, or in other areas of the parks.
