Can someone explain to me how this "Tip"
would work?
I read it on another website and don't see how
you could get Dining Plan for more days than you are
paying for? This is what it said................................

"Our family always waits for free dining to come around to book our trip. But, not only do we take advantage of that, we add on more food and park days than we are actually staying. It only cost a couple more dollars. Why would we add on more days if we aren’t staying that long??? You can reserve restaurants that take 2 table service meals and you don’t have to pay a lot more for a more expensive meal. Suddenly eating at Cinderella’s Castle doesn’t cost more than a couple dollars!" Thanks to Bryan for this tip!

I just don't get it!:confused3

You're right it doesn't make sense. Sure you could get tickets for longer than your hotel nights, but you can't get dining for longer than your reservation. Either someone doesn't know what they are talking about or they are booking a room for longer than they intend to stay--a room at a value for four adults would be less expensive than the DDP for four adults so maybe that is what they are doing--booking for longer than they intend to stay but using all dining credits before they leave?

I agree that maybe they're booking a room for longer than they're staying because the DDP goes by the number of nights you stay.....so if you only have 7 nights booked at a resort, you'll only get 7 nights of DDP credits as there's no way to add credits without adding nights. That would be like someone staying offsite and getting the DDP...which is not possible since you must stay at a Disney resort to get the plan.....no nights at Disney = no DDP.

I read that too! But I think what the PPs stated is what he must been referring to.

Okay, you piqued my curiosity - you're right, that "tip" makes NO sense - so I Googled what you quoted.

Interesting site. Many of the tips are well-known; some are outdated; some are inaccurate - and some of those almost laughably so :offtopic: "Use Fastpass at your favorite ride but wait until the entry time passes and then you can use it again (it will work again after the entry time) on the same ride or others. Go do another ride then come back before time expires and ride twice in a row or once at Tower of Terrors then Rock and Roller coaster with no wait. Works best in the morning. Thanks to TJ1044 for this tip!" which MIGHT work, IF the FastPass was not collected as you proceed through the queue.

Well, if you book, say, 10 nights, and leave after the 7th night, then you have 3 extra nights of credits.

I don't see why anyone would consider that a bargain unless it was for free dining. The cost of the room for the nights after they abandon it would no doubt be more than paying for a couple of dinners - unless they have a lot of people on their reservation and they're staying at a value.

Then there's the idea that someone who wanted a reservation on those last 3nights might not have been able to get one because people reserved a room they didn't intend to stay in just to get extra dining credits.

The one Kaytieelder posted - I think they may be referring to the fact that they will accept a fastpass after its face time and thus holding two passes for the same ride. Maybe. Can't be sure the way that is written.

Tower of Terrors?

2 years ago we had 10 days of tickets cause we were going to be there for 10 days but only 9 nights. And we got 9TS, 9CS and 9SC. It is based on the number of nights you stay not the number of ticket days you buy. This year we are going for 7 nights but are only getting 1 ticket each (because we have old unused hopper passes) but we get 7TS,7CS and 7SC due to the number of nights we stay.

I think that Patsal has it right though. If you're booking a value at 100.00 a night and there are 4 'adults' in that room, at 37.99 for the dining plan, you'd spend 150.00 on the dining plan. If you go during free dining you're spending -0- on the dining plan, so you could book an extra few nights for 100.00 and consider that the 'dining' cost of the extra credits, but not stay those extra nights in the room and use the dining credits before you depart.

It wouldn't work for us, since 3 of our 7 are under the 'adult' age for the dining plan and we reserve two rooms.....but interesting :)

:rotfl2:

The ticket component of the package is irrelevant to the dining plan component. If you book a 10 night stay with dining plan, you have to take 10 nights of the dining plan, and unless you are DVC or booking with an annual passholder package, you must buy tickets in order to complete the package. They don't care what length of ticket you buy; it can be as little as a one-day ticket.
