Call from Disney about our October Coronado reservation.

I wouldn’t take that upgrade unless I was doing a MK heavy trip with small children.

I would do it if they offer YC/BC and maybe any other deluxe but not a CR garden wing. Now a theme park view I would go for.
Hmm… you got me thinking what would I take? I have a soft spot for WL so I’d prob ask for that one thinking it’s the cheapest deluxe option I would accept so maybe there would be a chance? I think I would find CT Main Tower or Poly acceptable due to my curiosity about the remodels, any EP Resort due to transport to EP/DHS & Riviera because it has a real coffee shop and I love the property.

But why dream small? Maybe my game plan if they offer to move me from GDT on my solo trip should be 3 Bedroom Suite at Riviera or BUST! 😉

This is a girls only trip with my 3 daughters(29,31,33). They are teachers and I am a nurse. This trip is all about dinner, drinks, pool time and sleeping in👍. They’ve been going to WDW since they were babies, so while we will do the parks, it’s not a rope drop to fireworks type of trip. I can remember when they were teenagers, they’d want to stay back in the nice air conditioned room and watch Lifetime movies😂!

So Garden View would mean you are in the Garden Wing; there is also a Std View Garden Wing room. The CR tower rooms are theme park view and lake view.

Actually there is....the categories are: Garden Wing-Standard View; Garden Wing-Garden View; Garden Wing-King

4 adult women, drinks and dinner.... I would take CR. You would get a bigger room. And you have easier access to so many more restaurants and bars. You can do a monorail crawl, or hop over to WL. I think it doesn't hurt to ask for a tower room, all they can say is no.

Ahh, in that case I’d be much more inclined to take the upgrade due to Monorail access to Monorail Resorts and EP. Also the pool might have a more chill vibe than the main pool at CSR (I’m not a fan of CSR Quiet Pools since they don’t have hot tubs).

If you haven’t already, do pop into the CT thread and maybe ask folks their thoughts on the upgrade offer and any q’s you have about the garden rooms/resort.

(disclaimer - have stayed at CR Garden years ago and Poly recently. Booked at GDT for October, first time! Been researching it like a maniac :D )

Well, at CR I think the only bar option at the moment is Outer Rim? And their pool is....a pool.
You can hop to Grand Floridian for Enchanted Rose (Lounge with food) or their restaurants and Poly for Tambu, Trader Sams and their restaurants. Good options.

CSR you've got Three Bridges bar/grill, Dahlia - lounge with small bites, Maya Grill (restaurant), Toledo (restaurant), Laguna (outside bar), Siesta's pool bar, Rix Sports Bar/Grill and Mercado quick service (which I'm reading is NOT very good right now). Good options.

Sooo, if crawling around the monorail sounds fun, then maybe consider moving to CR. Also can walk to MK

If there's enough to occupy you at Gran Destino/CSR, stay there for the luxe feel of the Tower and what seems to be a better feature pool.

I will say I am not a fan of the Garden Wing buildings, so that influences my vote. They feel like you are staying outside of CR. :)

So, with your particular group, a garden room at CR would not be favorable to me. I'd personally ask for a room at any Epcot resort (BWI, BC, or YC) and also request a balcony/patio. You'd have easy walking access to Epcot for nice dinners and drinks, and the overall ambiance would be very nice for the 4 of you.

Well when the new Steakhouse 71 opens next month (Sept.) in the location of "The Wave" it will have a new bar. And when the California Grill (may have new name) when it reopens after closing on Oct 2nd for a 50th refresh.

Note: California Grill is currently unavailable for bookings after October 2 as we create a special dining experience for the 50th anniversary celebration of Walt Disney World Resort.

Okay!

I’d figure out my opinion like others have said, have a couple of ideas in mind of what else you would accept over what you have. Then I would call back and say can you offer anything else? Then take it from there, if you decided you would do the garden view, don’t show your hand until they say if anything else can be offered. I would not go all out greedy and say it must be like top of the line balcony view CL or any of that. Just what you think is a fair upgrade.

I finally called back. I got offered an upgrade to a garden view room at the Contemporary. I said I’d call back after talking to family members. We are AP holders, but with no annual pass or any discounts, there isn’t a huge price difference between our tower room at Coronado and Contemporary garden view. What would you guys do???

Personally, I wouldn’t accept the upgrade but would be open to negotiation. Despite the location and amenities, I’m not a fan of the Contemporary. I would ask if other options are available. If they offered a resort I like with something other than a standard view I might accept it. I would want to stay somewhere that appeals to me.

Whatever you decide, I hope you have a wonderful stay!

I have not received a call and our trip is also scheduled October into November. I really don't want to stay anywhere else....

Nobody else has received a call for any room at CSR. This sounds like a very specific situation where Disney wants the room those dates for some reason only they know.

yeah I agree. I bet if the OP doesn't take the offer or tries to negotiate something different they will just offer it to someone else.

If that is the case, I would take the upgrade. You can monorail pub crawl to all the lounges (even Territory and Geyser point if the boats are indeed back by then) like enchanted rose and Tambu. You can watch the fireworks with a drink in your hand from the lookout at CR or book CG for late night. Two pools which aren't the best but you have an option.

I just called back and asked nicely about staying in the tower instead. He said it was completely booked for my time frame. He went on about how much more $ the Contemporary room we were being offered was as compared to the Gran Destino. He said yesterday was the last day of this promotion upgrade(?). He also mentioned people being moved from All Star Music to CBR. I said “Oh, is that because the opening will be delayed?”. He told me no(yeah, right). I asked I’d I could call back later to let them know. He said “yes, but not wait too long!”.
