This is a question regarding attire. I chose CG as the site for our anniversay dinner (10 years- woo hoo!). I wanted some place special, but now I am worrying about attire. I bought a dress to wear that night, but after reading more about it, I'm thinking it's a pretty casual place. So, would my dh and I look totally out of place if I'm wearing a nice dress, and he's wearing slacks and a tie? Should we scale back on the fancy threads? :)

It is your special night......you dress however you want. I have been there and seen people dressed up and I have seen them casual. As long as you are comfortable and enjoying the evening, I would dress for the occasion.

The two times we went, I wore "the little black dress" with strappy black shoes and a burgandy pashmina. DH wore khakis and a button down Polo shirt. You could say we were pretty dressed up!! I did not feel out of place at all. Both times were for my birthday and dressing up made me feel that much more special. I would DEFINITELY wear the dress!!!

Celebrated my 50th b'day at CG with 5 girlfriends Nov. 4 of this year and we decided it would be fun to get "glammed up" for our dinner. SO we all wore decidedly cocktail-ish, dressy outfits and my daughter-in-law even provided us each with a light-up wand! We knew we would be more dressed up than the average diner but also knew being decked out would make our evening more memorable than showing up in park attire. No regrets about that...great meal, great time, great photos! Go for it.

I dress for dinner at CG - Not Evening wear, not a sun dress or park wear either. I never feel out of place & see several other diners dressed accordingly as well.
Yes, some people show up in shorts/parkwear/casual but there is a wide range of attire & you won't feel out of place if you dress for your special dinner. You'll see everything from suits to shorts.

I know I'll be dressed for dinner at CG Sunday night in winter white trousers, matching sweater & sage green pashmina with heels. DH will be in khaki's & button-up shirt.

Frankly, I dress up for all of our evening table service meals - a little makeup, a beautiful blouse and a fab jacket (OK, all over my jeans, but who sees the jeans???) go a long way to making everyone feel good. That said, I would dress up even more for CG - it's only appropriate.

we love CG and celebrate our anniversary there every year.
We always dress up and never feel out of place.

Sigh, wouldn't it be nice if they just enforced the dress code at CG? They go SO out of their way to inform you of the code (and I believe the code is appropriate, generous, and fair) -- so you bring your nicer clothes, and then the folks sitting next to you are in shorts and t-shirts and baseball hats.....

Now, please don't flame me (I know the "what does it matter how other people are dressed?" disagreements have been aired here before) -- I'm just saying that since they do have a code and since they inform you when you make your ADR of the code, it would be lovely if they held to it....

I wear nice slacks, a blouse and a scarf (all ironed in the room just prior!), DH wears khakis, button-down shirt, DS (7) wears his little khakis and nice polo shirt -- the hardest part is bringing along the nicer shoes for everyone! But I do agree that it's worth the effort to make the evening that much more special!

During our last CG visit (August), we saw the whole spectrum of attire -- from raggedy jeans and flip flops to what I would consider holiday cocktail party outfits. Wear what makes you feel good!

You will fit in fine. We dine there 3 or 4 times a year and always see a wide range. I think that is fine, fitting and fun. There will be men in suits and others in much more casual wear. We like to dress up a bit and last trip my husband wore a jacket because we didn't have an AR after having to change our schedule around. It worked. ;) Of course, we might have been able to walk in anyway. :confused3

Wow! Thanks so much for all of the responses. I feel much more at ease now. You guys are great!

I must admit that, while we are dressing up because it's our anniversary dinner, I am even more excited about the idea because I look a lot better now than I did for our wedding ten years ago. I was very overweight then and steadily gained more weight, but just this year I've lost 65 pounds, so I really want to knock my dh dead in my new duds! However, there will be NO counting of calories on the night of CG. I am eating whatever my little heart desires that night! :cheer2:

We have an 8:20 ADR, so cross your fingers that we get a window table for Holiday Wishes. I was sure to tell the CM that it was our anniversary dinner when I made the ADR. Oh, I'm so excited!

Thanks again for all of the positive feedback!

That is a great weight loss. Well done! Just go out and stun them (and DH especially!) on your anniversary and enjoy it. I really hope you get the window table too. Please post when you get back. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary.

CajunMouseFan...even if you do get a window seat, be sure to go out on the balcony if the weather is nice. We were surprised that it was not very crowded and it just added a little magic to the watching of the fireworks to feel the night air and be outside.

Thanks so much! I will definitely post a full review of CG when we return. I am so jazzed. WDW is all I think abut these days. I was just dancing around the house last night singing the patented "We're going to Disney World" song. :cool1: The dh got a big kick out of that!

Oh, yes! I will definitely take your advice. In fact, that would be a great spot to take some special pics, wouldn't it? Also, I did read that the balcony is not nearly as crowded anymore because you can only get up to CG if you have an ADR there. Is there truth to this?

While I'm at it, any dining suggestions? I have been perusing the allears menu for... oh, I don't know, three months! :earboy2: And everything sounds so great. Decisions, decisions. The menu may have changed, right? I think I read that it changes relative to freshest ingredients, etc.

We have CG booked and I was told "business casual." No tanks, tee shirts, flipflops etc. Business casual is jeans with a nicer polo or shirt. My kids will wear nicer shorts or capris. I don't think we will be out of place.

CajunMouseFan,

Maybe we'll see you there. Our ADR is for 7:30 p.m. We will be wearing business casual clothes. We are hoping to see Wishes outside after dinner. Enjoy your meal!

Just went for a wonderful B-day dinner for my hubby. ARrived early (5:30 for a 5:50 ADR) and was seated immediately at a lovely window seat. Had Rob the waiter (been at Disney since 1971).

Everything was perfect! We all had the filet. Hubby had the cheese plate (new) for appetizer, DD had the caesar salad (excellent taste), I had the salmon flatbread. We were almost too full for the entrees! I had the apple tarte for dessert. DD had the chocolate bombe (without the PBJ) and they brought out a cake for the B-day boy. Again, everything was perfect (I was worried since it was a special evening...)

The total was over $190 for three, but we had 2 vouchers and Rob managed to pick the most expensive items for those... We gave him a great tip.

A terrific evening. We didn't stay for the fireworks tho...
