The place very rarely gets mentioned on here, but what are people's experiences of the California Grill?

Overpriced or worth it for a 'classy' meal?

We have eaten here on two occasions for very special occasions. The food is out of this world, true classical French! Small potions but non the less we were satisfied and felt pleasantly sated rather than stuffed! The wine list is most impressive with some very very expensive wines but also some really nice ones at a reasonable price. When we ate there was a lovely atmosphere with characters popping in, there were.a mixture of diners some very dressed up and some casually dressed. It was mainly adults but there were children including my own! the waiters were formal but pleasant and helpful and very informative about the food. We liked it but our children preferred inventions.

Ah that sounds lovely, and maybe what I'd be looking for.

Do the characters pop in often? I know Inventions is the primary place for Character Dining but it's be ace to see some in CG.

Have had a look on the menu's at DLPMagic but am wondering if there's options for vegetarians?

The characters don't go into California Grill. We eat there almost every trip, we enjoy the atmosphere and have always had a nice meal in there. They seem to change the menu quite often, so am not sure what the current vegetarian options are.

We had characters ....very random ...such as penguins and Suzie and Perla and the man of the moment Mickey come to our table the two times we ate there. Both times there were other children in restaurant too....definitely nit ad many ad Inventions but they definitely came right up to our table and spent a lot of time with our girls.

Wow, you are lucky. We have eaten there 5 or 6 times, including earlier this year and have never had characters in there. I hope we see them when we are eating there on New Years Day, that would be a great start to the new year!!

I had assumed they were always there....yay we must have got lucky! We are going to book CG for Next trip....do will let you know if we get characters ;-)

Thanks for the answers guys, much appreciated!

Is there a dress code in CG?

I've eaten there twice, it's nice but not really for me. A bit too formal for a Disney holiday. My girlfriend loves it though as she's loves formal dining.

I don't think there's a dress code as I remember there being people dressed normally (t-shirts, jeans etc...) but it's the type of thing you should dress up for.

We've not eaten there since we had kids as they're young and almost certainly wouldn't enjoy it.

I've never seen characters in there and think they might be a little out of place.
