My boyfriend and I are visiting Disney Aug 26-Sept 1. We want to have one really nice TS dinner, and finally decided on the California Grill. We were wondering if anyone has been there/has any comments positive or negative. How was the food, view, service? Is it worth 2 TS credits each? The only ADR we were able to make this late was for Sunday August 30 and 9:00. Thanks in advance!

view was great... food and atmosphere awesome... I don't think its worth 2 ts credits... next time I go I think I will just pay out of pocket

We go every trip, the food and service are both lovely. The view is fantastic, you can see illuminations at Epcot as well as Wishes. If you are by the window you can watch the Electrical Water Pageant too.

I can highly recommend the pork tenderloin, don't know about any other entrees as I always have the pork, it's so yummy.

experience overall. The food is modern in style with a great wine list. The servers are all experienced as this is a coveted position.

You'll probably have some wait. It looks like Wishes is at 9:00 that night. You can arrive a little early and watch from the balcony. A lot of people wait on Wishes so some tables should clear after it's completed.

It can be a little noisy and busy for couples looking for that perfect romantic evening, but the food and atmosphere make it one of the best dining experiences at WDW.

Not sure if you know this ;) but DH and I had our rehearsal dinner at California Grill. We were in one of the private rooms with doors out to the rooftop so all our guests could go outside to watch the fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant. It was truly magical :lovestruc

If you decide to keep your ADR there, you could mention that this is your first trip with DBF and you'd like to be at a table facing the castle. They can't guarantee it, but they might be able to swing it. Photos there will also make for great Save the Date cards

Good luck with your planning - sounds like you have a great headstart!

Great place, you will enjoy it, but you might want to take a look at the menu and figure out if you would rather pay out of pocket.

Thank you everyone! These were very helpful! We're keeping the ADR! I will update about our dinner, I'm sure it will be great.

I have to agree this is one of the nicer places at WDW for a special evening. You could just got for drinks / apps and a dessert and have a nice time.

I have eaten in both the main room and the back wine room and it's a little more intimate in the back vs. the loud main room. When it's time for wishes - go to the back walkway on the right side (past the bathrooms), it doesn't get as nearly busy.

Have a nice time!

I loved it!! Our server was ok, but everything else was spectacular. It was in the top 3 of my faves this past trip! The food was great and the view during fireworks is priceless!

HAVE FUN!! :thumbsup2

personally if you want a "nice" meal between you and your boyfriend
I would suggest Jiko.
Much nicer, more likely to be more romantic atmosphere
since kids and families tend to hover around CG for fireworks making it kind of loud. (not sure what time Wishes is that night)

plus one time we went, we got out pager and waited, then they forgot about us while we waited and it took 1 1/2 to get seated. I'll never go back.

DF and I had our post-engagement dinner there and it was wonderful. We requested a window seat facing Magic Kingdom, and we were lucky enough to get it in about 15 minutes, but they warn you the wait could be awhile. But it was worth it; we weren't distracted by other diners or loudness as you may be at other locations. I couldn't have asked for a better dining experience that night! :)

Thank you everyone! We've decided to keep our ADR at CG, its worth a try while we're there, right? Thank youu!

We were there last April for our 25th Ann. It was AWESOME ! The food, the atmosphere, the view. Everything was great. :worship::worship::worship:

Been there, loved it, definitely worth two dining credits!

IMO, the view can not be beat. However, the restaurant (unless you are in the wine room) is loud, chaotic and feels very, very crowded especially around firework time. If you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner this is not the place to go. Like the PP poster I would suggest Jiko or Flying Fish. Neither of these have the view but the food is much better. You could always walk over to Epcot and see the fireworks after you go to FF.
