Does anyone know if you can go to the CG and just have a drink and watch Wishes from there? We will be participating in a banquet at the Contemporary for the charity that we are doing the Marathon with. It is scheduled to end at 8:30 and I was hoping to go upstairs and catch the fireworks. Thanks for your help in advance.

You might be able to but I would not count on it. CG's bar/lounge area is usually full of people waiting for their dinner tables and the seating backs up pretty bad the closer it gets to fireworks time as people already seated for dining drag out their meals so that they can stay for the show. The last 2 times we have eaten there, it's been standing room only (and not much of that either) by the time fireworks started.

I hope you get lucky and there's room for you on your night.

I thought that you were only allowed up to the CG if you had a reservation. Will someone please clarify this. Thanks

I thought you needed a reservation too. I know that before they moved the check in downstairs anyone could get up there but that has changed. They do not call for your table until it is ready and you wait on the floor where you check in.

I know the last trip I asked on the adr line if I could do a walk up to eat at the bar area and they said most time it is full and you can not get in.

If you can't get in watch the fireworks from the beach at the Poly or over at the Grand Floridian.

You can do a walkup to the bar area (still have to be allowed up from the 2nd floor checkin) IF there is room up there. If the bar is full, they will not let you up.

Pakey is right-they will let you up only IF there is room. Which there won't be anytime near fireworks time.
In fact, several times we've had reservations for dinner and they let us up a bit early "to have a drink at the bar" --
We went on up only to find no room at the bar, no lounge seats. We had to find two un-attended chairs and prop ourselves up against a back wall for over half and hour. It was so crowded that the SRO's were 3 deep at the bar and we couldn't even get a drink!!
