Our favorite restaurant is California Grill and we have been many times. Someone mentioned that Citrico's is similar and maybe we should give it a try when we visit in January. What do you guys think?

Thanks, Michele

We also like California Grill & tried Citrico's last January. It is elegant, yet not stuffy; much quieter; food was very good. We liked it and will most likely try it again.

We dined at both of these places in August and will be back to both of them in a few weeks. The food is not really similar though we enjoyed our meals at both places. Citricos is more Mediterranean influenced and is much quieter than California Grill. There is no sushi at Citricos. When we were there, I had fish (can't remember the variety) with risotto. DH had Sicilian style steak. DS had chickn with pasta ,artichoke hearts, and a wine sauce. It was all very good, but I would not really say it's similar to CG. Have fun at whichever one you choose! I don't think you can go wrong.

Dined at both in Oct. 2009. California Grill's food was very good, especially the filet. Service was great. It was noisy from conversations so not a quiet romantic spot, but also good for children who might not want to be perfectly quiet. The sushi is supposed to be made by a top chef - and it was good.

Citricos is a very quiet and comfortable restaurant. Food also very good - variety of dishes including seafood. The Grand Floridian lobby was enjoyable with a band and a piano player, stores, lots of fresh flowers everywhere.

They are both wonderful. I adore Citricos slightly more than CG because it's not quite as boisterous. If I were you, I would go with Citricos for the next trip since you've been to CG many times. It could be nice to branch out and try something new. Citricos won't disappoint!

We ate at Cali Grill in June and just loved it and the view was incredible...first time trying Citricos last week and it was wonderful! You cannot go wrong at either place but I have to give the edge to Cali Grill because I liked their bread better (yes I do know how weird that sounds :goodvibes), the atmosphere is much nicer and the pork with polenta was outstanding!

We think the food is better at Citricos and we eat there if we are doing adults only dining but if we want a lively meal (and sushi), we go to Ca Grill.

I think you should give it a try!
It's not actually "similar" to CG and as mentioned, it is a lot more quiet.
The veal shank is outstanding. The Braised short ribs are excellent also, tho the portion was rather small for the price.

Either restaurant is a great choice but as far as the menu goes Citricos is nothing like CA Grill. I say that because your original post indicates that someone told you they were similar and I wouldn't want you book Citricos expecting the same kind of cuisine that you'd receive at CA Grill.

Citricos is a Mediterranean inspired menu and the selections are much more limited than what you'd see on the menu at CA Grill. That's not to say it isn't good because it's exceptional, but they are not at all similar ... not in menu, not in decor, and not in overall ambiance.

WE LOVE Citricos but after reading what everyone is saying about Cali Grill next trip I think it might be a must of course with a repeat visit to Citricos!
We eat there with 2 kids(10 ad 7) who loved Citricos too!

While both are great, we love Citricos and think it edges out Cali Grill in atmosphere, service and food.

Cali Grill has a great view and excellent sushi, but it can get loud and sometimes the servers have a tendency to rush you. We like to have a 3-4 course meal with wine and after dinner drinks and that takes more than an hour.

Anytime we've dined at Citricos the service was excellent. They really concentrate on providing a dining experience. The menu is varied and I have never had a boring dish there. I agree with a PP who recommended the veal shank and short ribs, and I would also like to recommend the halibut, if available. For dessert try the lemon cheesecake-wow! And I also love the atmosphere. It's quite and relaxing and beautiful.

Have a great time!:)

We have been to Cali Grill twice, and Citricos at least 8 or 9 times. We liked California Grill; we had some good dishes there, but we just didn't love the atmosphere. We dined in the wine room last time, and it was just as noisy and chaotic as the main dining room.
By comparison, Citricos is a quieter, more leisurely paced meal. The food has been outstanding each and every visit. Give it a try!

We've been to both (and were at Citrico's in August) but didn't love our Citrico's experience. If you're curious, definitely give it a try -- we didn't enjoy the food as much as the CG meals we've had, didn't have a good experience with the service. We'll go back to CG but will wait a while to consider another Citrico's meal.

Our review with photos is #40 on this page: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2315601&page=3

I eat at the CG every time I go to Disney, for me its a must. When DH and I go again in March we will be eating at Citrico's for the first time and from what I am reading it sounds like it will be a good dinning experience. Can't wait!!!!
