California Grill Question

Hi, I have a reservation for the California Grill at 9:50 pm on Sept 24th. I was really excited to get this res (haven't been there before), until I started worrying about getting back to the Grand Floridian. I believe I have always heard that the monorail runs two hours past park closing which I believe is 9:00 pm for both Epcot and MK this night. So, if this is accurate, the monorail wouldn't be going past 11:00, which I don't think there is a chance we would be done by then. I posted about this on the restaurant board, and the only answer I got was from someone who had a terrible experience and they actually tried to get on the monorail within only a hour and a half of the park closing and they were denied and they had to go through a lot to get back to the polynesian. eek!! I'm really worried we are going to be stuck at the contemporary - I really don't want to take a taxi. Do you guys have any idea if any disney transportation would be available to us? Well lets assume the monorail isn't going - although I would think it still would be at that time but maybe not.

Without taking a taxi -- which would be pretty affordable for that short distance you would have to take a bus to DTD and then a bus back to the GF -- I would guess that would take you well over an hour possibly an hour and half longer UNLESS the bus that stops at the Contemporary is then the DTD bus that goes on to pick up people at the GF -- which it probably is -- so you could probably go to the buses and ask the DTD bus driver if he is headed to the GF.

Oh no I think its a pretty good option - I am fairly certain that the bus coming back from DTD will be headed over to the GF and that would be your only option short of a taxi -- and FAR better than having to go all the way to DTD to transfer.

Additionally lets say for some reason the bus you find is stopping at the Poly but not the GF -- you can then take that bus and walk back from there. It's a beautiful walk along the lagoon.

The resort monorail should still be running between the GF Poly and Contempory. It bypasses the MK but stops at the resorts for resort guests to get back and forth between the resorts.

I do agree with the PP that the monorail resort should be running but if not yes the buses from DTD run til 2 am and would still taking people to and from the resorts.

I think the resort monorail runs until 11pm or 2 hours past MK closing. Tyler has posted that info in the past as I recall.

So if you could be out of luck. Liz has a good plan although I would do the taxi. It would be a short ride.
