Trying to decide between California Grill or Flying Fish Cafe. We've eaten at the California Grill twice before and have really enjoyed it.

We've never eaten at Flying Fish, and we've never even been to the Boardwalk area.
We do have 3 kids (3, 7& 9) who are usuallly well behaved at restaurants (or at least have enough electronic devices to amuse them so people think they are well behaved)

Which should we choose?

For food and entrées I would vote the FF. For ambiance, I would go with CG. We love both these restaurants! If you've never been to the FF I would try it out. Boardwalk is a great area to hang out!

Agree. :thumbsup2

We did both this past trip and plan on doing both again.

CG has a nice view. FF has better food, better service and performers outside on the Boardwalk after dinner. Flying Fish is the all around better restaurant.

We love both of them. I would pick FF since you've never been there. There is lots to do on the boardwalk for the kids before or after your dinner.

Agree with the others here that you really should give FF a try. Its a very good restaurant, just different from CG.

Does anyone know what days of the week the performers are at the boardwalk? Our FF ADR is for a Wed. night but I thought I heard that the performers were only there Thur-Sun.

Unless something has changed, performers present every night at random locations from 5:00 PM - 10:00.

wdwent.com has it listed that the performers are only out Thursday-Saturday, but in my experience that isn't the case. For whatever reason we usually end up at the Boardwalk sometime between Sunday and Wednesday of our trips (probably because I've always assumed Jelly Rolls is quieter on those nights) and we have always seen the performers out.

Those are two of my favorite restaurants on property. As you've never tried Flying Fish, I would absolutely give it a try. Plus the Boardwalk is lovely, especially at night for a post-meal stroll.

I've always had excellent dining experiences at Flying Fish and while fish and seafood is their specialty, they also have excellent meat dishes.

Enjoy!

Thanks! We have a late ADR and were really hoping the see them before dinner as we never have. I was also looking at wdwent.com. The boardwalk section doesn't appear to have been updated recently.

WE tried California Grill & Flying Fish for the first time in December. We found the food great at both & I hope to repeat both next December.

However, Flying Fish was our favorite of the two. The food was so good, service tops & we liked the restaurant better also...is abit more causal than CG. Plus, we like the Broadwalk area & the walking to & from Epcot or taking the ferry from HS.

Both restaurants are excellent, you really can't wrong with either choice.

But as other posters have said, I would pick FF since you haven't tried it and have never been to the boardwalk.
