California Grill - light dimming?

Hi All,

I've read in the UG that they dim the lights for Wishes at California Grill. But I've read on here that they don't do it any longer.

Do they still dim the lights?

We were going to an ADR there on our first night just for Wishes (and because I want to eat at a nice restaurant!), but if they don't dim the lights for it, I"m not sure we'll do it.

Is it "easy" to see even if they don't dim the lights? We've never been to California Grill, so any help is appreciated!

The first time that I ate there, in 2003, they did in fact dim the lights. The last time (a couple of years ago), they did not and we went out on the balcony to see the fireworks which was still fantastic. From what I've read on here, it seems that they don't any longer due to safety concerns. I'm not sure if this is the reason or not. The fantastic food is reason enough to go!

We ate there 3 months ago, lights were not dimmed very much but music was piped in (time before that, we didn't even have the music). Unless you are sitting right at a table right next to the glass on the castle side, it's usually not all that great of a viewing as there is a glare. Most people go out onto the viewing deck to watch.

IMHO, I would not go to Ca Grill if the primary reason is viewing the fireworks. The view from here is not nearly as good as it is from inside the park. The food is very good though and if the menu appeals to you, it's worth going for that.

thanks for the replies! We'll see the fireworks from the park and from the GF several times on the trip. We just thought this would be a neat way to end the first night of the trip - with good food and a "new" view of the fireworks.
