Hello! Well, our agenda for December 10-16 is pretty full due to MVMCP and CP and mom's birthday. As I was looking at our evening events and dinners I realized that I haven't left room for Fantasmic. My husband and I have seen it and loved it. We did not, however, get to see Spectromagic in May so I've planned for it this time. I have made early dinner arrangements at California Grill to sync with the fireworks for the night of my mother's birthday as a surprise. We will have spent the day at MK and had lunch at CRT. She has never been to WDW at all so it will all be new to her. Question.....foodwise and "event" wise, would you keep California Grill and the fireworks(we will see fireworks at MK on night of MVMCP also) or squeeze Fantasmic in and take the boat to Yachtsman Steakhouse afterwards for a birthday dinner? My husband and I have eaten at Yachtsman and liked it a lot but we have not dined at California Grill. HELP!!

By all means eat at California Grill and see the fireworks. You can go outside onto the terrace and watch them from there. My husband and I did this for our anniversary, and we were the only two people out there. Talk about romantic. The food is fantastic at CG also. Enjoy whatever choice you make.

Thank, MamaLlama!

Having never eaten at CG, my husband and I kinda would like to experience it also!

I'm trying to work out a change to our last evening plans so that we can see Fantasmic on Sunday night. Just too many things to see and do! I had planned for a leisurely afternoon on Sunday with massages (part of the birthday gift!) at Disney Institute at 5pm. We might move that up to the morning hours so we can fit Fantasmic in that evening.

Sounds like a good plan, but be careful -- after a massage, basically you feel like doing nothing.

I saw the fireworks once from the California Grill and thought it was beautiful, though I did not eat there at the time so I can only comment on the view--from what i hear though the food is wonderful. However, I also think Fantasmic is incredible. For me this would not be a choice because my fiancé absolutely loves Fantasmic and would give up anything to see it. For him, seeing the fireworks at MVMCP would be enough and we would see Fantasmic. The reason I'm pointing this out is that he is not really that into shows and didn't see what all the fuss over Fantasmic was about when we waited in line for a good seat (I had seen it already which is why I pushed it so much). Anyway, by the time it was over he was asking when it was playing next so we could see it again. So if you can move up those massages and squeeze Fantasmic in, I think your mom would love it and get the best of both, Fantasmic and California Grill!!

Two very good things to do. What would your mom like best?? CG is very good food and the view is excellent. Fantasmic is one of the best shows at WDW .

We are going over x mas and happily will be doing both.
I am sure what ever choice you make it will be great.

Well, after posting on the Parks board and getting a great response or two there also, I'm leaning towards dropping plans for Spectromagic on Saturday night and doing Fantasmic then. I've never see Spectromagic but someone had a great point that since Saturdays are the only days it is going on in December it could be an overly crowded mess!

Perhaps we will keep our CG ressie for mom's birthday on Wednesday and go to Fantasmic instead of Spectromagic on Saturday.
