I noticed the dress code for California Grill is now business casual. Can someone help me and define business casual for me. Will shorts and polo shirts and shoes not flip flops pass? Thanks :cool1:

Well, the definition varies. At my company, it's a collared shirt and slacks or khakis for men, and socks and shoes. For women, it's slacks or skirt, a collared shirt or blouse, or sweater or cardigan/twin set, hose with closed shoes. (ie no open toes, no open backed shoes). A polo shirt for men is pretty borderline.

Now, I would surmise that the Disney version is not quite that strict.... We usually wear a combination of the above at CG, but I certainly don't wear hose or closed shoes.

Having said that, I have seen a wide variety of attire there....

Just made ADRs today for Yachtsmans Steakhouse and the CM mentioned the business casual dress code. I asked if the kids would be okay in shorts and a t-shirt. His response was sure thing. I asked if that basically meant no cut off shrt, tank tops and flip flops....his answer was yes.

we were at the CG earlier this week...
when we made the reservations the CM told us business casual which i confirmed with him meant a polo shirt and khaki pants for men....

when we got there, there was a couple in front of us signing in who were wearing shorts, clearly straight from the park....not a word was said to them, so clearly it wasn't really an issue....(even though the CM on the phone specifically said no shorts)..

by the way, we were disappointed by the CG....we'd heard for years that this is a great restaurant etc etc........we thought it was just ok......and it was extremely noisy....shockingly noisy for what we expect from a fine dining experience...

Would jeans and a polo shirt be acceptable?

Actually I had to reschedule my AR for CG and I was specifically told "no jeans, no flip flops", collared shirts for men. I doubt that they are "enforcing" it but obviously they are attempting to change the atmosphere.

This is exactly what my hubby and two brothers wore when we went last week! The men wore khaki or navy shorts. The women wore capris and nice blouses. Most were dressed like us, but there were a number of "dressed up" couples.

The men in my family have always worn "neat" shorts and polos at CG and the ladies capris, etc. Personally, we eat early, around 6ish at CG so we don't feel "weird" being in park attire. If I ate later around 8ish, I would feel more comfortable being dressed a bit more upscale.

And I do agree with a previous poster - CG is one of the noisiest restaurants, but the food is so worth it.

Jeans are just fine. Just be "neat" however you dress and all will be well!!!

The last time I ate there, I wore a nice pair of shorts and nice shirt and boat shoes. I was not over dressed nor underdressed for the crowd eating dinner. I changed from the park clothes I was wearing to nicer clothes for this restaurant.
