Hi Guys...:thumbsup2

Not long untill we are off now can't wait, just looking at another dining reservation ... How good is California Grill Disney's Contemporary Resort ??

Is the food worth the $$$ and 2nd is wishes in MK a good view from the restaurant ? :confused3
Never been before but can get a table for 9.30pm and Wishes starts at 10pm.

Also can you just view from there without having dinner reservations ???

CHEERS ALL

I love this restaurant and we always go to there at least once every trip so we definitely think it is worth the money...I especially love their Sushi. :thumbsup2

The view of wishes is nice but unless you get a table right by the window you will have to go and watch from the viewing area outside and listen to the music but even with a window table I think its better outside to get away from the clatter of the restaurant.

You wont be allowed up without a dining reservation

Just about everyone loves Cali grill, we are in the minority, eaten about 60 meals onsite CG the worst of them all. I posted more detail a few days ago in another thread.

We love this restaurant - especially the sushi :-).

DH who hates paying for anything (lol) will happily pay OOP here :-).

We have done it once OOP & once on a paid for USA style dining plan.

This is one of the reasons we have gone for DxDDP & a return to Orlando next year (were looking at west coast) as we loved it here & thecsignature restaurants in general.

Am happily planning 5/6 signature restaurants for next year.

We loved CG!! Beautiful views and delicious food. :) Will definitely be back.

It is not a perfect view of wishes however it is still nice and we enjoy it - we also watch from BLT.

I think it's quite interesting as you can see how far apart the firework launch sites are.

We have had good & bad meals at the CG. We will probably go again after the rehab next year.

Hi,
you can view the fireworks from there, the view is nowhere near as good as by the castle.
They dont usually allow you to go to the restaurant without a reservation.
In my opinion, its not worth it. poor service and average food.

Cheers for all the replies....

Yeah I did read somewhere else that you can still view fireworks from there without a dinner reservation is this correct then ????

You can ask to go up to the bar however if they are busy you will be denied without a reservation - around Wishes time they are usually full. The numbers are limited due to the fire codes.

Ok cheers, is there just a normal viewing area you can see the fireworks from or just CG area ??

Love this place, some of the best meals ever!

during our meal the server held back our desserts and coffee so we could view the fireworks on the viewing platform outside. When we returned the meal re commenced seamlessly! excellent service and some of our most memorable moments !

We went to the Cali Grill in 2009 timed at the same time as the Halloween fireworks - as we ate we saw the water pageant on the lagoon, could see some of illuminations and then went outside on the viewing balcony to watch the MK fireworks - absolutely magical!

The food was excellent and thoroughly enjoyable, service was excellent and was a great evening. We have booked this for our last night this trip - could not think of a better way to say goodbye to the world..... Until next time!

Cheers for your help guys... Just one more question are they strict with the dress code as we will be going there staight from a day in MK ????

We were there Christmas day and I saw people in park clothes - though not flip flops. Most were more dressed up as it looked like they had changed :)

There is the observation deck on the 4th floor at the Contemporary. The only thing on the 15th Floor is CG.

There is also an observation deck on the CG floor, head towards the rest rooms, behind the elevator and there is a door that takes you our onto a deck, great views of MK.

Oh! As you mentioned the only thing on the 15floor was the CG, I thought I'd mention the viewing deck also. Missed the first part of the thread.
