California Grill and fireworks -- confused!!

Hi, I'm going to DisneyWorld next week for the first ever time with my boyfriend as a 21st birthday/finishing exams thing and am so excited! This is like my childhood dream! I am staying offsite and don't know much about Disney other than the research I have already done.
I really wanted to make a reservation at California Grill so we can watch the fireworks, but obviously as this is such last minute and late notice there isn't much choice for what we can get. Basically, several days have a ~5.30 reservation, a few others have ~9.40, and there is one day with 7.20. What would you suggest would be the best time to go to watch the fireworks?

It seems like Wishes is most likely at about 10 PM or so most nights the next few weeks. If you want to be sure your in the restaurant for Wishes, take the 7:20 ADR if you can still get it. You can take one of the earlier ADR's, if you want, and then return later in the evening to watch Wishes from the observation deck, just show your reciept at the podium and they will let you in. 9:40 could be tricky since you will not likely be sitting yet (the table turnover rate is pretty low the closer to Wishes you get) and some people have not been allowed to view Wishes if they are waiting for a table.

I agree take whatever ADR your happiest with and save your receipt so you can go back and watch Wishes BUT Id go early b/c the deck can fill up!

I would take the 7:20 if you can still get it. The meal usually takes us 2.5-3 hrs for our meal but we purposely take our time and order multiple courses. Even if you are still going to have dessert when Wishes starts they will hold it so you can go out and watch the fireworks and then come back to your table and finish your meal. CG is one of our favorites so enjoy.
