I may be taking a west coast trip this summer and may be in the Carmel/Monterey bay area for a few days (with two teens). Are there any DVC properties in that area for a 2-3 night stay? If not, any suggestions of a nice place, with preferably a water view? Finally, how are the hotels at Disneyland (no DVC specials right?)

Any and all advice is appreciated!

If you are looking for a 2-3 night stay it would have to be in the concierge collection. Pricy.

You can use points at the Disneyland hotels. We never have, but I've stayed in all 3 at one time or another. My favorite is the Grand Californian!

Check out the member site or your guidebook for point totals.

The Grand Californian Hotel is GORGEOUS!! I think you may not find the "use" of points very economical (29-117pts per night). But, it is a wonderful place to stay!!

The Grand Californian is great. The grounds are fairly small, well, mainly bnecause there is a theme park in them! But it is a very nice hotel - think of it as the child of the Grand Floridian and the Wilderness Lodge.

You'll probably do much better renting out your points and booking with cash.

There are quite a few nice resorts in the Monterrey Bay area. The Lodge at Pebble Beach and the Inn at Spanish bay are located on the Pebble Beach and Spanish Bay golf courses. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend. Ocean Views run around $600/night.

I am also a lover of the Grand Californian, returning next month for our 5th stay. Like MrShiny, however, we also pay cash and save our points. We used points for our first stay but usually now have them all used up at WDW, but we love to visit DL and stay at the GC.

Thanks everyone for all the info on the Grand Californian - I may try a night on cash. Also, any additional suggestions on the Carmel and or Monterrey area would be great!
