Anyone have a clue when this is starting or if it has started already? Curious because we are planning a trip in September and the family that is going with us has NEVER been to DLR!! Shocking I know, since I'd live there if I could afford it! lol

Anyways just hoping that their first time there isn't spoiled with a bunch of closures...knowing Disney though they will probably be careful to not let the renovations disrupt the magic of the park...or at least I hope because I've certainly raved enough about how great this trip is going to be!

I know it is suposed to be completed like 2011/2012 or something like that so it must be going to begin soon if not already...thanks for what ever info anyone has out there!

I'm not sure if I can post links to other Disney fan sites, but Mice Age/Chat has this great timeline for the DCA refurb.

Here you go

Yes, they've already commenced the initial phases of the expansion. As far as I know, they've taken down the Mickey head from the Screamin' and are the sunwheel. They have drained the lake at DCA to retrofit it for the World of Color show, but I don't know when they are refilling the lake.

I wish they'd hurry up and re-fill the lake... My favourite photos from my last trip are night time ones at DCA, and without the reflection off the lake, and half the other stuff that's going to be missing, it's really going to be a bit of a non event...

Does anyone know when they are going to do that? I really hope they do it before peak season, so I won't be looking at a huge basin when I go.

I know. Its so frustrating to think of something you will have to look at when you spend that much money to go on a trip. Its not a very magical site that's for sure. All I can say is that I am going to appreciate the park a whole lot more once its finished and we dont have to look at that big hole in the ground or any other major referb for that matter.

I know World of Color won't be open until next year or so, but I sure wouldn't think they'd leave the lake empty for that long! I'm hoping they will fill it back up for summer, and then get back to work in the off-season.

I so hope your correct. I am hoping for the same thing. That would be nice to see the water back in there again. Its just not the same.

The Paradise Pier lagoon work is currently scheduled to be completed on 5 September, so I believe that's the date they're aiming at to start refilling it.

So it'll be empty for the summer, but should be back to normal for the Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas Peak Season.
