We live out here in Sunny Calif. and have been to DisneyLAND multiple times. our DD is 5 and we were at DisneyLAND this past weekend and my wife wants to goto DisneyWORLD.

i just want to Know is there a huge difference between the parks. because if not i think i would prefer to save my $$$ and go locally.

TIA

Chris

Well, there is overall a large difference. First, DL best equates to the Magic Kingdom. It's got a few differing rides, but it's basically the same in terms of layout and major attractions, but MK is much bigger. There isn't any easy comparison for Calif Adventure, as the various rides there show up in Epcot/Studios/Animal Kingdom. It's a definite destination resort that you'll want to spend as much time exploring as you can, whereas the original is more of a 1-2 day event.

Disney World is a lot bigger and has a lot more to do. It takes at least a week to do everything (4 parks, 2 water parks, downtown area, mini-golf, golf, spas, etc.) in my opinion, unlike DisneyLand where you can do it in a weekend. I've been to both only once and I prefer Disney World because there is a lot more to do. While DL has some rides that I like that DW doesn't have, Disney World has a lot more to offer.

Hope this helps!

....with Epcot, Animal Kingdom, water parks, Disney themed putt putt gold, dozens of Disney themed hotels - and believe it or not - quiet places within the "World." There's simply so much more to do at Disneyworld. Itr's like Disneyland on steroids....

My wife and I have this debate every time we talk Disney. I prefer WDW, she, DL. She likes DL because it is so compact, with everything within walking distance. She feels that the 3 parks (Epcot, DS and AK) don't have enough attractions for their size compared to CA. She likes WDW but loves DL. I love WDW because there is a ton of stuff to do you can not find at DL. For instance, Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness. Great character meal with a country western theme.

If you have never experienced WDW, you should try it at least once. While I love the original DL, I absolutely love WDW!

I agree with the PP...you should try it once to see what you think. I really don't imagine you'll think you're wasting your money.
We have went to WDW every year for the past 10 years, and added 1 trip to DL just last year. While DL was great b/c everything is so close (and its the old nostalgia) WDW steals my heart b/c it just feels "right".
I know that's a personal decision, but you really should try it to see. It will be overwhelming, but totally worth it!! :thumbsup2

You could spend a month in WDW,while DL is only a maximum 4 day thing.

The two Magic Kingdoms are different. There is a lot at DL that is not at WDW, and some things that are at the DLMK are in other Parks at WDW.

You will find that Space and Splash Mountains are different, as well as its a small world and Pirates. Indiana Jones is a stunt show and not a ride. You will be able to see the MSEP on Main Street!

Epcot is a permanent World's Fair and easily takes two days to do properly.

Add in the Studios (1.5 days) and Animal Kingdom (also 1.5 days), some of the attractions at DTD such as Cirque Soleil and Disney Quest; the two water parks, the two miniature golf courses (total of four courses) and the Resorts.

And, btw, the monorail is transportation and not an attraction.

200 acres vs 47 sq. miles

2 parks vs 4 parks plus 2 water parks

DTD shopping area at leat 4 times the size at WDW vs DL

DL is very quaint vs WDW is very expansive

California has a......Land

Florida has a......World

Plus the WDW resorts are often parks in themselves: Wilderness Lodge, the various lakes, Old Key West, Boardwalk; the walking spaces between the parks are lovely, restful, interesting, peaceful. For kids, this is the time to nap; for adults, this is a chance to speak as happy grown-ups. $# square miles of people who want to make me happy: sure beats smog.
