Cake boss

Who here has ever ordered one of their cakes? I was watching the show last nite and it made me want to get up and bake a cake. Problem is I don't bake and I don't think I even have a cake pan. Are the cakes as good as they look?

I have never had a cake from there. I do want to get one sometime and try it out. I had a cupcake there and it was okay. I was not impressed with the frosting. But it could have just been a bad day. Everyone I know who has gotten a cake from there loved it.

Last time I was there I got a fruit torte and it was really good.

We lived in Hoboken, NJ from 2000-2004 and went mostly to the RIVERIA Bakery (and many of you posting from the Hoboken area will recognize that name)... anyway, we did stop into Buddy's bakery from time to time but what I do recall is it was a very pricey bakery. The baked goods were FAB but like I said $$$. Riveria has moved off Washington Street. I imagine now with the show, Carlos' is doing amazing.

I always order birthday cakes from Carlo's Bakery. I personally think they are delicious. I order the custard with strawberry and fresh banana filling cake. It is yummy! With the whipped cream topping. Once I ordered a cake for my son, which could only be made with buttercream as the icing, but they worked around that and made it with whipped cream! Soooo very nice of them!

We've never had the opportunity or the pleasure to try any of the baked goods from Carlo's Baker. But when I saw the thread title, all I could do was laugh because my wife and I always get a kick of how Buddy pronounces "fondant" with that thick Jersey accent. Love it!
