Caitlin Clark Is Supergirl

She's not saying Caitlin Clark is racist, she's pointing out that Clark was doing that John Cena hand thing the whole tournament and nobody was criticizing her for it, but when Reese did it she was called unsportsmanlike. It's the people who didn't care when Clark did it, but criticized her that were racist.

Clark didn't follow anyone around the court doing it after winning the game. Do it once, fine but don't keep doing it, that's the poor sportsmanship part.

I do sense that it was almost tongue and cheek. But besides that, it sounds like Angel Reese seems perpetually aggrieved. That's not a good way to go through life.
We haven't walked in her footsteps. Maybe there is a good reason she comes across as aggrieved.

Her parents apparently didn't teach her how to present herself in certain situations.

I have no idea of her upbringing. Maybe that is part of the problem. Not everyone grows up with loving parents. Some children have to put up with years of abuse and harm.

I can't think of a good reason why she can't just be gracious and maybe just ignore an off the cuff comment by Jill Biden. Her reaction was disgraceful on multiple levels, and I hope she isn't allowed to be the mouthpiece for the team. If she doesn't want to show up for the White House visit, that's her prerogative. But I would think she should leave the rest of the team out of it.

Well, lots of folks have had to deal with very difficult stuff growing up. Still, if she skips the White House thing it's understandable. It may not be something she'd find fun.
I'm sure she'll do well in the future.

You can’t całl it poor shortsmanship on Reese’s part while praising Clark for the same gesture. The timing and circumstances don’t matter.

Either it was acceptable for both or both were a holes.

It appears that Clark has no problem with Reese’s gesture.

I wonder what motivated the sudden flip-flop? She seemed very firm in her position before.

I would suspect her coaches and teammates told her that she’s got a lot of growing up to do, and that it would be the first step.

You have no idea about her upbringing, but earlier you said she was told her entire life that she meant less to society than others.

Angel grew up with much privilege. College educated parents that were world travelers. She was given many opportunities that others cannot afford, like ballet lessons and multiple extra-curricular activities. She attended a private, parochial high school and now is ranked as one of the best college female athletes.

I think using the color of her skin to make excuses for her manners towards The First Lady is quite dramatic. She could just be a spoiled brat, as could Caitlin. These things happen. We live amongst brats, jerks, and ill behaved young adults. That's how some people act until they mature. Some people don't ever mature. Such is life. But, I don't understand the jump to being Black equals less than for a lifetime.

That automatic victim mentality is peculiar. Can't she just be a kid whose parents didn't teach her certain manners? Why all of a sudden is abuse being brought into this? Non-loving parents? Society? Can't she just be (in the words of @declansdad) an a hole? Can 't it just be media hype?

But it looks like she is ok with going to The White House now:rotfl2:All is well.

Wouldn't that be about the worst place for her growing up? A huge error on the part of her parents. Many of those schools have a rigid hierarchal pecking order that is based on family income. I'm sure her fellow students and school staff made sure that she knew her place and the reason why she was at that school.

Wow. That's quite a leap of judgement.
Based on her obvious high level sports skills alone, she likely would have been popular.
Just in general, a belief in God, prayer and the golden rule aren't a negative for many.

Did I miss something saying that her family were lower income? The previous post mentioned that she had "College educated parents that were world travelers" - that doesn't scream lower income to me.

Our of curiosity, I looked up the school - it's one of the oldest historically Black and Hispanic catholic high schools in the US. Could that be the "reason why she was at that school"?

Wow. You mean her parents made an error sending their daughter to the first and oldest Black Catholic school in the United States?

What do you have against Blacks that you would judge her parents in such a harsh manner? That you continue to say she could have been abused. That you say Angel was told she was less than? Or that she is dealing with unresolved childhood trauma. And now saying her parents made a huge error to send her to a private parochial high school? Who are you to say her parents made a "huge error" with their choice of schooling? Did you assume Blacks can't be Catholic? Or able to maintain a private school for almost 200 years?

Why are you saying all of this?

I think you need to step back and examine your intentions.

You want her to be a victim of racism so badly that it is making you say racist things.

You are just making things (really horrible things) up to fit your agenda.

Truly a conundrum of this mindset.
Just making a point that when posters are treated badly and unfairly they often lash out and have a negative reaction. I think that is healthy. I'm glad you didn't accept my nonsense but instead fought back. This should be encouraged. You shouldn't respond to my garbage by smiling and moving on. You should fire it back right at me and not take it.

Regardless of all that, she is still victim of racial bias & this situation literally makes that clear. I actually think being educated might be why she has the chip on her shoulder b/c she is more aware of social injustice.

This appears to be an attempt at backtracking on what you said to make it something it wasn't.
