Cafe Orleans or Carnation Cafe

We like both places. The Baked Potato Soup at Carnation Café is great if that appeals to you. We really like the food at Café Orleans. The atmosphere, is fine either way. Both have a nice outdoor seating area. We have never been indoors at Carnation, but we have been seated indoors at Café Orleans and it was fine. It was not overly loud. I would say go on Allears.net and look at the Disneyland menus again, and just pick the one that has the food that appeals most to you as their menus are very different. I think either restaurant would be a good choice.

We liked Carnation Cafe, but we LOVE Cafe Orleans. My hubby likes cajun/creole, I do not!
Even if the Monte Cristo and Pommes Frites weren't amazing, we'd still eat there for the location (outside).

I love them both. And we love Big Thunder. Your hubby might like Carnation better. I love the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. The meatloaf is also excellent (according to my adult son.) The Baked potato soup is great as is the chili. Good luck deciding. I understand preferring table service. It is nice to have that break.

On your other meals that you might want counter service, we love the French Market.

We're planning a visit to Disneyland next spring. Since we'll probably be staying off-site I'm looking for a mid-range table service restaurant where we can have lunch and decompress a bit. I've looked at the menus and reviews and can't decide between Cafe Orleans and Carnation Cafe.

If we go with Cafe Orleans we probably wouldn't order any of the Cajun/Creole inspired dishes. (Louisiana natives) I prefer lighter dishes (lots of salads, no fried) and DH is a basic meat and potatoes guy. We would prefer a nice atmosphere where we can relax a bit while we eat.

Anyone have a preference for one over the other?

Thanks!

Cafe Orleans. I love the ambiance of the New Orleans area. I also love their food. The food is not light, though. So maybe you might prefer the other. Although, they have salads, as well. If you sit outside, it's nice to people watch. Your husband would love their garlic fries. They are great!!

My vote is for Carnation Cafe. Especially during the afternoon parade. You can ask for an outdoor table and watch the parade as you enjoy your meal.
