Interested in this as well as we are having a debate ;) at home with those who would like to try breakfast and those who would like to try evening meal :)

After doing both the evening meal and the breakfast meal last year(breakfast was free after the staff messed up our daughters night big style) would have to say the breakfast was much better.

Even though we only had a 90 minute slot it never felt that we were rushed and the breakfast was to die for!!

From what I can remember there was a hot buffet selection which included scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. Lots of different cereals and pastries and the best sugared ring donuts I've ever tasted ( I had 3 ). I would recommend the breakfast rather than the evening meal if you had a choice.

mmmm sounds good we have done luckey nugget before and doing plaza gardens for the 1st time this year ,I just thought breakfast would a little more relaxed and a nice start to the day I imagine that the park hotel guests already have a charactor breakfast so it wont be to busy and the view is nice

Sounds yummy! Since we're staying offsite in May maybe we'll try this. Don't want to miss EMH (with Dream APs) though......

We've done CM breakfast a couple of times. I'm not a big fan, mainly because we're all in such a hurry to get to the parks, we don't seem to make the most of it. Also with the buffet set up it's a bit of a free for all and because people are milling around getting food, the characters seemed to be constantly held up on their way around the restaurant, but maybe it's just that I'm clock watching.
On a longer break I'm sure it could be pleasant but I'm always conscious of the fact that we're wasting valuable park time.
For us I would always go for the evening meal, again it's something we've done a couple of times and I love it, if it's after the park closes it extends the magic that little bit longer, last visit we came out of the "extremely busy never again Christmas season weekend" park and I was so thankful of the change, it was relaxing ( helped by the cocktail no doubt), the characters were fun, the food was wonderful, it lifted my spirits enough to face going back in for Fantillusion.:goodvibes

Incidently the best character breakfast we ever had was in the Steakhouse, I've no idea why or how we came to be having it in there, it was our first visit and I didn't know any different but it was awesome.

I am with Jill about this debate.
In 1999 we had had a Character Breakfast and then it took place at the Hotel New York.
We still have nice memories of it, plenty of room, food to die for and so many characters. Mickey and Minnie welcomed us at the entrance then so many others came to our table :Goofy, Eeore, Perla, Chip and Dale and MIckey and Minnie again and we had the chance to spend a few minutes and share a joke with each one.

Last year i decided i wanted a Character breakfast again even if we were a group of adults (younger son was 14).
Well, i didnt like much the location - CM is small compared to the restaurant in HNY - Mickey was around the tables when we arrived (five minutes after our turn had started) and was there just a couple of minutes than go and bye bye and it took ages before Geppetto arrived, then Goofy and then the Cat from Pinocchio and that's it. In the meantime we were rushed to finish as someone was always around to check if our plates were empy to take them off.
I felt like that was not the place for us.
BTW the food was A LOT less the other time and less good.
Didnt worth the money and the time really IMO but once more we had no kids with us.

I think, if time/duration of stay at DLRP is an issue, then I'd give breakfast at Cafe Mickey a miss. I'm like Jill and her family - we always dash to the parks and get as much done as possible in the mornings, when the parks are quieter.

Barbie I believe you're taking the girls for 6 days though, right? In that case, Cafe Mickey could be a great more-relaxing start to one of your days.

I do think, if time wasn't an issue with us, we'd go for breakfast at Cafe Mickey too. My sister went with her family a couple of years ago, and they really enjoyed it. I've been for dinner there, and although its chaotic and very busy, its great fun too.

We had the same in 1998 and also our character breakfast in Walts in 2004 which were definitely highlights of both holidays.

It was 2004 when we had ours in the Steakhouse, I wonder if it was instead of Walts ? I imagine Walt's and the Steakhouse to be of the same standard, white linen tablecloths, heavy cutlery, everything was laid out on beautiful platters. I felt that compared to the experience we had there Cafe Mickey was kind of downgraded, I get the feeling that the same applies to what Guilia is saying about the Hotel New York too.

To be honest though I can't eat garlic potatoes for breakfast, the sausages are too spicy and the bacon is too salty and fatty for me, the last time we went we had a glass of orange juice and a chocolate chip muffin each, not really good value for money. ;)

My son (the 12) felt sick  after the too many sausages he ate at the HNY Character Breakfast, silly him :lmao:

In 1996 we were offered a Character Breakfast in the park when we checked in at Hotel Cheyenne, i am not so sure it was a Walt's but it was a posh place anyway, will try and scan some pictures this afternoon :goodvibes

We have done Cafe Mickey for breakfast twice and really enjoyed both times. The first time we did the early slot and then still managed to get into the park for some EMH. Last time (at Christmas) we went into the park for 8.00, did an hrs EMH then went back out for the later slot. I much preferred this. We got there fairly early and so managed to get seated and get our first plateful of food before the characters appeared. We took our time and made it a relaxing meal -lingering over extra drinks etc at the end.

When we stayed at DCR this Easter for our one nighter there was a sign up in reception about a character breakfast at Newport Bay. I didnt ask for any info about it though so Im sorry Im not sure if its for everyone to book or just DCR guests or was just for a short period. There were no signs about it at Cheyenne when we were there the following week

We usually stay at the Explorers with our family of 6 and since we don't get hot breakfast included we usually do CM for breakfast. We have never (knock on wood) had a bad experience here and have always had 6+ characters come around. We usually take an early sitting so we still can enjoy EMH. Our best Birthday party celebration was here last April for character interaction. Our daughter had 7 characters around the table and Goofy was really playing it up knocking off her crown acting like he didn't do it and dancing. She also had Mickey, Minne, Daisy, Chip & Dale, and Baloo. All we're dancing and clapping and Mickey and Minnie kissed. It was awesome.:dance3: You have enough time so I would definitly suggest it. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the sponge type cake.
We did a birthday party at Lucky Nugget last August and our son only had Pluto with him at the time although Mickey did come over after the music and took a picture with him. We also saw Dale, Mr. Smee and Prince John on the same visit. Normally we see 6 or 7 characters there so that was a little dissapointing but both places are our favorite places to go for character meals and you have enough time to do both.:woohoo: The cake here was chocolate and very good. I took a picture but as yet have not figured out how to do pictures otherwise I would include it here.

Good luck and have a magical vacation!

thanks for all the advice, think we will go and do breakfast ,we have done lucky nugget before and a least a CM we will be sure to meet the boss himself and maybe minnie if we are lucky my DD adores her :princess: ,doing plaza gardens tea party as well ,going in aug so im dying to get booking the meals not long now:woohoo:
