Caesars Palace: Looking for recent feedback re: staying at the hotel

Hi,

DH wants to go to Vegas for his upcoming birthday. He has always wanted to stay at Caesars, but it's a little pricey for us. We love staying at Paris (for sentimental reasons) and enjoy the hotel.

I am thinking of surprising him with Caesars for his birthday but have read that it is not worth the price anymore as the quality of the hotel has gone down some (unless you are a frequent visitor, which we are not).

Has anyone stayed at Caesar's recently? Can you please share your experience? It's considerably more money, but this would be the time to surprise him with it, if it's as nice as he thinks it is. Thanks!

I stayed in the Augustus Tower about 8 months ago and it was very nice; we had a great view of the Bellagio fountains. I can't speak for the less expensive towers.

I thought it was much nicer than Paris rooms but not as nice as Bellagio or Venetian rooms. (I travel to Las Vegas frequently).

We just stayed (Augustus Tower- Suite) got back about a week ago, BEAUTIFUL, we don't pay for the room (husband is comped) so I wouldn't even know how much a suite like the one we stayed would cost, but I have never had a bad room in Caesars- Top Notch hotel, even the "standard rooms" are beautiful. Highly recommend it.

Thanks! That really helps. I would rather stay at the Bellagio, but it's HIS birthday. For some reason he has always wanted to stay at Caesars. In our various random trips over the years we never have, because of cost. So - that's what birthdays are for, right? I just want to make sure with people "in the know" that it's still a nice place to stay. Otherwise, I'll just whisk him away to Paris, LV and surprise him with extra (non-budgeted) gambling money.

A room in the Augustus Tower is $200 a night. We can't swing that, but the Roman Tower is $140, which I am trying to find a way to do - if it warrants the price (By comparison, Paris is $130 for a room with an Eiffel Tower view.) I woulld love your thoughts on this (value-wise).

The suites are beautiful. Maybe someday... ($340 - $4,140.00 (wow!) / night).

Dreams, Harrah's (which owns the Caesar's brand) tends to give out their nicest rooms to repeat players - i.e. people who gamble a lot or for a long time - 4+ hours a day minimum. For a very comparable price to what you'd pay to stay at Caesar's at one of their standard rooms (i.e. Not the brand new Augustus tower) you could get a beautiful, swanky, decked out room at the Encore which is the new hotel owned by Steve Wynn. Encore is just across the bridge from the Wynn hotel.
Also, fyi, Caesar's has a lot of construction going on right now, it has been going on for a while and some of that construction is right outside of the pool area -- which is a bummer if you are planning on going to the pool. You have to pay to get in to the Venus pool (which is their European sun bathing i.e. topless, pool) whereas a few years ago it was free. I sure wouldn't want to pay for that, but some might I guess...At any rate, there are other hotels along the strip that do not have construction going on in their backyard.
Bellagio is another hotel that has construction going on right next door where they are building that monstrosity called City Center. It totally obliterates the view of the South Strip from some of the rooms at the Bellagio and Caesar's; it's that huge!

We have stayed at Caesars, Bellagio, Paris and Planet Hollywood and they are all nice but the Bellagio and CP are the best - and most expensive. CP is huge and has the big mall. Their pool is nice too, especially the Venus pool...sometimes!!!! I would never consider staying anywhere but right on the strip in LV.

Disney Dreams- We have never stayed in the Roman tower, so I can't give you an opinion as to if it's worth the extra $, but I would say bottom line is you are giving your husband a gift and he wants to stay in Caesars, so stop trying to figure out if it's "worth it", of course you can probably get a better room, for less $ somewhere else, but then he will still "want to stay at Caesars" so just find something you can afford there, and the room is going to be nice anyway and let him have his dream. Seriously how much are you actually in the room anyway??

Let me also address the "construction" issue, yes they are working by the pool, but it is not anywhere that affects the pools, or any part of the hotel, if anything it is right next to the Agustus tower, and we did not hear or see anything- did see the temporary wall by the pool w/workers behind it. No noise at all, don't let this stop you from staying there.

What is the Paris "red room"? just curious, we have stayed there (Leman's suite- spelling?) but never heard of the Red Room? Love Paris, but Caesars rooms blows Paris away.

Basically just a step up from the luxury or premier rooms with all fabrics being red.

We also got the "P" rooms last time. It was a corner room so slightly bigger.
