Ok, looks like our trip next week will be our first sans car since our very first trip 16 years ago. 4 nights at the BWV, mostly Epcot/MGM for those days, followed by 4 nights at the GF, with a heavy helping of MK from there. All our meals will either be at the resorts or in the parks. So, other than getting from/to the airport and a couple of trips over to AK, we really will have no need for a car. So we're taking Magical Express, going without wheels, and saving the almost $400 the minivan would set us back.

I suppose we'll attempt to suffer with the busses for the few times we'll need to have vehicular conveyance from point A to point B, especially to the AK. However, if we want to go to DTD, or get to another resort, does anyone know how much a cab costs down there to get from the BW or GF to AKL or DTD?

why don't you just take the bus to DTD too?

now it is slow - but it won't cost you anything.

I don't think we ever paid more than 15 bucks.

Mind you, we are trying to wean ourselves off the car. Baby steps, you know ;).

Now I don't mind trying the bus from the resort to a park. No connections, minimal time, I can deal. But if we need to go from point A to point B, change busses to get to point C.....that might be too much for us. Like if my DW wants to go over to the BC from the GF, that isn't easy by bus, a cab is. For the few bucks a cab might be, I'd be willing to spend it out of the $400 we saved by not renting the minivan.

Also, How do you get a cab at a resort? Will they call one for you or are they sitting there? If they have to call one on average how long does it take?

I am cheap. You take the bus to studio and then the boat.

or you take the monrail to TTC, then the monrail to Epcot - walk thru Epcot

One guy reported $25, most have been in the $20's - don't know if that includes the tip or not?

some cabs are there - however I would have bell services or valet service call you one that they trust.

some cabs will overcharge. you shouldn't have to wait more than 10 minutes. From DTD there are bunch of cabs - because calling them would be harder. I guess you go to guest services?

When we stayed at the BWV, we always took a cab to/from DTD. (We even had a car!). I know....crazy.....but we just like to get there! I think it cost us about $15 each way. There were always some waiting out front. If not, we would call down to the front desk, and they would get us one. :thumbsup2

I've used the cab service quite a bit my last few trips. They only use one cab company and will not let any other cab company come in. I witness this at Poly twice and Contemporary once. They shooed the other cab company away.

I paid about $15 for one way from AKL to Contemporary to go to Chef Mickey Buses were taking to long and we were running short on time. Valet will call the cabs for you if they are not out there.

Have fun.

I reason similarly to you. A couple of weeks ago when we were at the BWV we took a cab to the AKL for dinner at Jiko. DH wanted to take the bus, but I reasoned that by using ME and Disney transport most of the time, the money we saved on a rental or towncar service was far greater than the occasional cab I wanted to call.
I think I paid $15 including tip each way (Yup, I won after dinner too :cool1: ) from BWV to AKL. I budgeted $20 and I know it was under that.

We use the cabs when we want to do SeaWorld or Universal. I would go down to bell services and if there wasn't one out there they would call one for us and they get there fast. Never a problem getting one on the way back because cabs are all over the place in those parks just waiting and DH would actually go to a couple to see which one would be the cheapest because they do compete.

We took a cab from Saratoga Springs (which is a DTD resort) to the Grand FLoridian last Sunday. We called Bell Services, they had the cab waiting outside for us and it cost $15 including tip.

we were at Boardwalk a couple of weeks ago...had bell services hail the cab...from BW to GF was $15

From BW to Governor's resort across from DTD $10.50 in Oct.

I have budgeted $400.00 just for cabs to take us from Poly to sig. restaurants. Having a bad knee I want to save my walking for the parks and its our Anni. so what the heck.:flower3:
