I got the training. I have a BS in Meteorological Science. I just couldn't find a job as a meteorologist. My programming experience in college got me my first job as a developer (plus they were impressed at all of the math and statistics classes I had to take to get the degree - If you had doubts, now you know for sure that I'm a geek! ). I wouldn't change a thing though. I love what I do now and weather is just a hobby. Just don't try to talk about the weather and expect small talk!
