Cable Question

Some posted that all sites have cable, honestly not something we thought about - we booked a preferred site for 8 days in Sept.

Ok, we have a pop-up camper and in all of our years camping we have never brought a tv camping with us. We have a litte dvd player we take with us for our DS-4 and that works in a real pinch but i am actually comtemplating taking a little television down with us. (it's a semi older small set)

Ok, how do you hookup a TV in a pop up? Do you just run a cable wire from a box into the tent and that's it? or do we need some sort of converter box now that everything is digital cable?

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but i figured if i'm going to ask it - this would be the place?

Don't need a box. Many pups have a cable hookup on the outside just like any TT or RV. Usually the insidw hookup is next to a counter top somewhere, If yours does not, just run it up under the bottom side of the canvas somewhere. When we had a pup, I just ran it up under one of the places the velcro was and secured it with a little duct tape.

The cable at Disney is very limited, but it has many basic stations, however, repeats a lot of it on different channel groups for different languages, subtitles for hearing impaired, etc. There are a lot of channels dedicated to stuff at WDW, DVC, current happenings, info, etc.

You are right. This is the place for dumb questions. And, sometimes, dumb answers, too.

Yes, hooking up a TV to cable at the Fort is as simple as running the cable from the cable outlet on the utility post to your TV. No converter box needed, even if your TV is not digital. The TCD gang camps in a pop-up, and there are plenty of places to run a cable into the camper from the outside.

I always bring a small TV, and during football season, I bring a cable splitter and an extra TV to set up outside the camper.

I agree with ftwildernessrick, the channel selection at WDW is surprisingly limited, when compared to what you might be used to at home, or even at run of the mill motels. But, the resort TV is fun to have. Your DS (and you) will probably enjoy watching the special WDW programming that runs on a loop on some of the channels (at least the first ten times or so).

So, throw the TV in when you pack. And, just so we are all on the same page- remember that you need to bring your own cable. That is not provided. They will sell it to you at the trading post, but I'm sure you don't even want to know what they charge for a length of cable there. Since the location of the utility outlets varies depending on what loop you camp on, bring a 25' length of cable, just to be on the safe side.

Thank you both, that was pretty much what i thought but before i packed a tv to bring down i thought i'd just ask. I don't mind the limited channels as we have never used a TV camping before anyway but just in case we get stuck inside in a rainstorm or we want to just touch base with the news i figured i'd give in and take it!

It'll have the local stations, several sports stations (Disney owns ESPN and ABC), and several Disney channels for information and entertainment. And most repeated in the higher channel numers with subtitles.
