Hello,
I promised someone (sorry I forgot your thread name) that I would report on Cable Beach upon our return.
We were on the Mousefest 12-4 Wonder Cruise.
We had a 'Wonder'ful time.
On Nassau day, we decided to do Cable Beach, having heard of it on these threads.
We debarked the Wonder and got a taxi to Cable Beach. The Taxi fare was $5.00 per person for the 6 of us. We did not take the first taxi opportunity, we waited until we were outside of the port area, just after the gate.
The taxi ride was about 20 minutes. It seemed that we went a round about way due to one-way streets and traffic.
It was a pretty ride and a side of Nassau that was not as poor as our last walking tour. The taxi driver took us to the Wyndam (sp) and dropped us at the front door of the hotel/casino.
We walked through the casino and out the back door to the beach area. No one gave us a second look. No one asked for money or hotel id. So it appears this is normal for this place.
We obtained some lounge chairs, there were plenty to choose from. It was a very pretty beach, soft sands, very nice. The water was a bit cool, but I was able to go in.
DH went to the casino (not a beach person), and lost.
We stayed a few hours and then 4 of us decided to go back to the ship. We walked back through the casino and the door man hailed us a taxi. Very easy to do. The driver was nice, told us about some sites, etc. The price of gas is $3.00+/gal. yikes.
Another 20 minutes back, lots of traffic this time, and he brought us right back to the gated area of the port.
The other couple stayed longer at the beach and went to the other hotel outside bar for a cocktail, very expensive. And they paid more for their ride back, since it was just the two of them.
We brought our own towels from the ship and of course brought them back with us.
Make sure you ask the driver how much the ride is before you get into the taxi.
Any questions, let me know.
Hope to do a trip report soon.
