My husband has a convention to attend in Orlando, and thought we might stay at Ft. Wilderness, in a Cabin. Does anyone have any info on them, Pros, Cons? Last time we were in WDW was last Dec., and then we stayed at the Poly(LOVED IT)!! We're a family of 5, so we need a little extra room. Any and all info is greatly appreciated!!!
Does anyone know how far away the convention center is from WDW?
Thanks Bunches!

We rode bikes from WL to the campground and around the cabin loops. They looked great and for what you get a bargain by Disney standards. I would go for it.

2 yrs ago my DD & I stayed in one of the cabins with 4 cousins. It was great. The bedroom has a double bed & a bunk bed. The living room has a pull down murphy bed, a couch, tv, & i think a chair. Then there were 4 chairs at the counter in the kitchen. The kitchen had a full size frig, microwave, dishwasher & a stove. The bathroom had a shower/tub combo & a sink unit with storage drawers.

We all enoyed it. It was quiet. You received daily maid service just like the other resorts. Many people don't like the bus service from WL campgounds. I didn't find them at all annoying. I would recommend it.

We (6) stayed in a cabin last June and it was great. The kid enjoyed staying in a "log cabin". We slept comfortably in the beds (even the Murphy bed) and felt well rested each day.

We ate breakfast each day in the room which saved some money. We also kept snacks and soft drinks in the fridge. Breakfast on the porch was very relaxing.

We had our own car so we did not use the transportation much. We did use it when we went to Hoop De Doo and one morning we took the boat over to MK. We really enjoyed the boat ride in the morning. It was a beautiful way to start the day.

One little thing that made this stay special was that whenever you encountered a CM (whether they be riding along in a golf cart or cleaning your room), they would greet you. This is a little thing but the CMs are very friendly.

We would definitely like to stay here again.

You might want to post this question over at the camping board. Most of them are very knowledgeable about the cabins.
We had a family reunion with three of the cabins a few years ago and it was great. Everyone said they wanted to stay at FW again. We prepared a few meals and that also ended up saving some money.
It truly makes you feel like you are escaping on vacation and can relax.

We really enjoyed our Christmas stay at the cabins last year. We loved the extra room, and I even cooked Christmas dinner! It seems very relaxing at Ft Wilderness, and there's lots to do.

Is the conference at the Orlando convention Center? That's probably a 10 to 15 minute commute on I-4 with good traffic.

Enjoy!

Some of our friends stayed there and really liked it. They said it was super nice!

I'm probably the only one...but it just wasn't for me....we are not campers and didn't like the seclusion feeling at the camp ground....We wanted a hotel feel and after 2 days at the cabins CRO moved us to a hotel resort....

Thank you all for your replies!!!
