We are now considering a stay at Fort Wilderness cabins during early June. Can you tell me what transportation is like to the parks? How difficult is it to get around Fort Wilderness? My boys 10 and 7 would love to stay here and my hubby and I would like the room. We are flying down this time so we would not have a car.

Thanks

I think the the transportation is ok. The internal buses run every few minutes and there is a Boat to Mk and there is also buses to the other parks. The MGM bus is caught by the Trails end area and the others by the outpost area. The buses to the parks sometimes take longer depending on your luck of arrival at the bus stop. We have have stayed at the Cabins before and liked them and also most of the Hotels. We stayed in Dec 05 in a camper and are going back this year. Make your reservations early, I called for Dec. 06 and they are filled up solid, the CMs said WDW is filling up fast this year. As a rule once we arrive at WDW we park our car and use their transportation.

We were always happyy enough with the Fort's transportation. Do allow some extra time if you have to be somewhere at a certain time (like dinner ressies). Usually the busses run frequently but if you just miss one, you could wait 10 or 15 minutes for the internal bus, and then wait again for the bus to the park you are going to. We stopped renting a car because we never used it. Others will swear that they save enough time by driving to the parks to make it worth renting, but not us.
