We are headed down to FW on Feb 17th for Mardi Gras:joker:. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations regarding loops for cabins. This will be our first time in a cabin, as well as the first time in FW for the DW and kids. Actually now that I think about it:scratchin , it has been about 20 years since I stayed in FW. Can't wait to get back! With 3 five year olds I wasn't sure if any location would be better.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I am wondering the same thing...we are going March 27 - April 2. I requested one close to the marina but I am not sure if that is the best or if I would rather be near a bus stop. :confused3 So I am waiting to see what kind of answers you get! Also be sure to write a trip report and/or let us know how your trip goes!!:wave2:

Actually, none of the cabins are close to the marina. Do a search and this board, somebody has a good map of the campground. All of the loops with cabins on them are near the "front" of the campground, close to where you check in. The marina is in the back by the HDD building, at the area called the Settlement. You have to board a bus to get to the marina, it is about a mile walk. We enjoyed the cabins, I think I'll start another thread.......
All of the cabin locations are equal, unless you wanted to be close to the pool when the weather is nice. I just requested non-smoking, which we got:thumbsup2 !

I'm looking at my handy dandy Fort Wilderness map that just happens to stay by my computer (what?!!? surely I'm not the ONLY one on this board that has FW maps 'at the ready'!!) and cabin loops 2100, 2200, and 2300 are beside the bus stop that is only one bus stop away from the marina. The more I look at it the more I like the 2100 loop as it's a short walk to the store/pool/campfire area and the bus stop is right there.

I checked the milage from 2100 to the Meadows it is .46 of a mile and if you wanted to walk to the Settlement it would be another .53 a total of .96 of a mile.If you walk to the Outpost it is .75. If you wanted to be near pool loops 2500,2600 and 2700 are right next to the quiet pool.By the way I keep all the WDW maps and my Passporter right by my computer.

The only thing i would add is that we stayed in 2601 which was good for the quiet pool and just a stones throw to the bus stop, however because it was close to the road, we heard quite a bit of traffic noise(Busses), late evening and early morning when we slept in the bedroom, second time there MIL and the kids shared the bedroom and we had the murphy bed, never heard the traffic once.

We just got back and were in 2700 which was only a short distance to the pool which I was excited about. The pool, any pool is tops on the list for our kids. We rented a cart which I highly recommend which made getting around the rest of the campground easy.
