We want to book a 2020 Alaska Cruise together. If I book the cruise with her name as my room mate, can she book a placeholder?

Can you provide a few more details?

You are cruising with a friend and want to book Alaska with her, but she wants to book a placeholder? Is that right? Do you share the same land address?

Yes, we are cabin mates on the DVC Cruise. There are three in this cabin, but the other person is not interested in booking another cruise.

My one friend and I want to book Alaska for next year. I will book that Cruise. This friend wants to buy a placeholder.

We do not live together, different states.

When you are on the Alaska cruise, all three people in the cabin should be able to book a placeholder for a future cruise. If your 3rd person is not interested, that won't impact the two of you. You both will be able to buy a placeholder for a future cruise.

The way you phrased it is a little strange. Your friend understands that they can't buy the placeholder until they are on the cruise, correct?

The three of us are on a Bermuda cruise. That’s when I will book the Alaska Cruise for myself and one of my cabin mates. This cabin mate, the one who I will put as a cabin mate in Alaska wants to book a placeholder while we are on the Bermuda cruise. From what I am understanding here, she can book a placeholder.

I think it will be fine if you do it that way, but you could just put TBA or someone else’s name on yours and then change it when you get home (and she has her “placeholder” email to be safe.

Since you can each book something (2 rooms per household address), you can book Alaska and she will be able to book her choice, which is a placeholder. I don't think it matters that she happens to be on your sailing, as long as you are the lead doing the booking.

I agree with what Dug720 said, you don't have to name her as being on your Alaska cruise. I don't know what happens if you don't, however, then add her and it happens the price changed in the meantime.

That is why I said add as a TBD or give another name so the second person is in there. As long as it is before final payment I think there is no charge to change the name.
