Cabin Loops question??

We will be staying ay Fort Wilderness for the first time this winter. I was wondering if I should request a specific CABIN loop. Are anu areas better then others? It will probably be too cold for swimming so being near the pool doesn't really matter. We will have small children so getting around will be our main concern. Thanks for any help.

The last time we stayed in a cabin, we were in the 2600 loop. We were the 2nd cabin in on the left hand side, and we were STEPS from the bus stop, the pool, and the LAUNDRY room.

You might be surprised about swimming. WDW pools are kept pretty warm, and if it's above 60 degrees outside, there is not much that will keep my DS from getting in the pool.

If the pool truly isn't an issue, as long as you are close to the front of the loop, the bus stops won't be far away.

I think with small children the most important request is "not too far from a bus stop." That said, you will probably hear the buses, so it can be a trade-off with a bit more noise. The bus noise usually doesn't bother me.

Instead of asking for a specific loop, just ask for what your real desire is - close to the bus stop. That way when the room assigner sees your request he is not limited to a loop, but knows what you want. If you ask for the 2800 loop which has a bus stop at the entrance the only cablin may be at the back of the loop, thus causing you to actually walk further.

Too many people try to request a loop when it is something else they are actually looking for.

Agreed, put your most important request first. If you do have a loop preference after this discussion, put it after, "close to the bus stop."

We were in 2600, maybe 10 cabins in. It's a decent location. 2600 is huge though, and I'd rather be in the front of another loop than in the back of 2600. 2500 is a small loop, with the pool and laundry there. Some people like 2100 because it is closer to the center of the campground, and it is a little smaller than some.

None of the cabin loops are really close enough to anything to walk with small kids so if you don't have a golf cart you'll want to be close to a bus stop and the actual loop won't matter.

I would request being at the front of the loop rather than a loop near a bus stop. My husband was on crutches last trip so they moved us to a loop closer to a bus stop - BUT becuase we were at the trailer at the very back of the loop - it was actually a longer walk, than from a trailer at the front of a loop farther from the bus stop. I hope that makes sense.

I also prefer the smaller loops so I request these. There is a great web site with maps and info along with how many cabins are in each loop. It is Fort Wilderness Info

If you have small children I would also recommend renting a golf cart...they make getting around the campground a real pleasure especially with little ones. If it is within your budget, I'd definetly consider it. Enjoy your trip!
