We are staying in the cabins for a few nights next month. We would most like somewhere quiet and in a beautiful setting. We will not be going to the parks. What loop would you recommend? And yes, I always keep in mind it is just a request. 😀 Thank you!

Did you book a DVC cabin or one of the legacy cabins?

Some loops have already been converted to DVC.

Some loops are in the process of being converted to DVC.

Some loops have not yet (legacy) been converted to DVC.

Generally speaking the quiet/pretty locations to me are AWAY from the entrance/exit of the loop. About halfway around and away from any main roads (bus noise). But that has to be worked into your answer to the questions above.

I should have clarified! We are staying on DVC points.

Only two loops are currently available for DVC use from what I've read: 2500 near the quiet (cabin) pool and 2300 (I spent a night in 2500 this past January). These two loops are adjacent to each other.

Both back up to a water canal (the same one which can be nearly dry at times) and again I've offered my preference for an outside cabin (on the left side as you drive along the one-way loop road). This is true for the campsites I book as well. The back of the cabin/site opens up wider and should you want to carry a folding chair and sit in an open space behind the cabin, you'll have more room.

Both of these loops, across the water canal, have nothing but nature on the other side in view from the cabin area. So other than cars driving through the loop, the noise should be minimal.

In the pic grab above from Google Maps, the ditch is the blue line and the cabins on the outside in each are highlighted in yellow. Due simply to the size of the loops, 2300 has more cabins that fit these qualifications.

This is so early in the life of the DVC cabins it's hard to say. I would say to request a 2300 cabin. Also, I make my request on the reservation (and it is "just" a request) but I also try to get to the Fort as early on arrival day as I can and go inside to check in in person and discuss with my CM what I really wanted (and they will work their "magic" if a cabin is available that's not yet been checked into). Tell them "outside" and "in the back" and they have a big map book of each loop they can consult. Be polite to the CM, be helpful, but be patient and let them do their thing. Sometimes the site/cabin has someone on it checking out that morning and if it fits your "wants" you can wait for Mousekeeping to clean and prep it for you and then get a text when it is ready. But it is assigned to you when you are at the counter (but they usually won't tell you the #).

2200 loop is currently closed for the DVC cabin builds and may possibly open at the end of next month but 2300 is not bad IMO.

Anyway, that's my two cents with the "why" and the "how". When we camp at the Fort, we only do 1-2 park days and 3-4 non-park days which are mostly spent around the Fort (although September is still kinda warm for us)

Good luck and have a great stay.

PS - here is a close-up of the 2300 cabins along the back on the outside to show you what I'm talking about.

The area on the cabin side of the canal (ditch) has been cleared and can be accessed from a couple of the cabins if you want a quiet place to commune with nature (or the mosquitos :teeth: ) so it can be somewhat accessible back there.

This is so incredibly helpful! Thank you for taking the time to give me such good information. We appreciate it!

Last time we went (over a year ago) we stayed in cabin #2328 and it was a good location. Backs up to the canal, plenty of room for the kids to play outside, easy walk to the internal bus stop if you don't have a golf cart.
