Hi, We just booked a cruise next april, 2003, on the Magic, and were wondering about cabin 7502. Noise, movement? We are a little nervous about being so far forward on the ship, but wanted to be on an upper deck without paying the price of a balcony. We can probably change it if its not a great location, but any input would be helpful.

I know exactly what you mean! I have cabin 7000, just on the other side, this fall. I asked a few old pro's about what was opposite my forward wall. (If anyone knows for sure, please let me know!)
The answers I got were that it is probably bridge crew quarters or bridge equiptment storage, and that that part of the ship is fine. No complaints heard anyway. At lower decks, people are even further forward. If the sea is rough, we'll do a bit more traveling than mid-ship of course, but, that's the trade off.
I'll report back if it was really awefull, maybe it will be before your 60 day chicken exit is past.
Be excited !!! I bet it will be great!

we stayed in 7505 in febuary21st wonder.it wasn't noisy at all.just seemed to do a lot of walking being in the front of the ship and all.
the last night of the cruise we had 15foot waves with gail force winds.are cabin was really rocking and rolling side to side and even up and down.
we were traveling with friends that were on deck 2 aft and it was so bad my wife and daughter went down there and slept at about 11.30pm.she said in the morning it wasn't half as bad as it was in the front.

Thanks for your input, how was the motion the rest of the cruise when seas were calm? Was this a good cabin except for the last night? Would you book it again or where would you go next time. The walking doesn't bother me, and I think it will be very quiet. I haven't cruised before, but it seems like a tradeoff to me.
The lower you go, the less motion in rougher waters, but the more noise you hear from engines etc, aft, and the waves cutting when you are forward. So, I'd almost rather deal with the motion 1 night rather than noise 7 nights on a lower deck. My guess would be that it was better in your friends cabin because it was 5 decks lower and not so much because it was in the back of the boat.

We had room 7002 on our 7 night cruise and absolutely LOVED the location. So much that we decided that instead of getting a secret porthole room for our next 7 night cat 10, we would prefer to be in the same location. For me, nothing would ruin a cruise more than lots of noise that might keep me awake. I didn't want the secret porthole room because it was a connector and the one with the worst view and I decided I'd rather have a nice, quiet, nonconnecting room without a view than a greater chance of noise with a view of tanks (if I could've gotten the non connecting one with the better view I would've jumped all over it).

I actually really like feeling the motion of the ship but didn't notice a huge difference in various parts of the ship. In fact, the second I sat down in anything I was asleep from the rocking (very relaxing). As far as any extra walking, the forward elevators are very close to these rooms. To me, the quiet of not having people walking past my door was well worth being at the end of the hall. I found the ship to be much smaller and more intimate in general than I had really expected and I don't think that any cabin on the ship would seem particularly far from anything else on the ship.

I really loved the forward location because it seems that a lot of the adult areas are clustered around the forward area. It was great to just be able to run up a couple of flights of stairs to the pool or go down the elevator to off beat for nighttime stuff. The midship elevators were always crowded and we found ourselves gravitating toward the foward elevators no matter where on the ship we went.

Anyway, I have no qualms whatsoever about that location!
