Would love to hear from you all regarding cabin, location etc. any pic's would be brilliant.infact All info much appreciated as we are a 1st time cruising family consisting of mum, dad, and 2 girls, ages 8,9 when traveling.

We had this room last September and really enjoyed it (before we always had Cat. 11 rooms).

When we set sail, we could see the CMs with Mickey Hands waving to us!

As we pulled into Castaway Cay we could watch the island come into sight.

We enjoyed our window. I would still sail in a Cat. 11, but it was nice to have the light from the window and we got to see some beautiful views.

The SPRs are a great deal! And I thank Barb and Tony for letting us know about them.

I hope the pics on my site are helpful. The only other thing to be aware of is that 5522 is a connecting stateroom, so you may hear some sound from your neighbors through the door. But the room location is very convenient to the elevators, and deck 5 in general is a great deck. Congrats on getting a SPR!

OH, Thanks Barb for pointing that out! I forgot, I had 5520, which isn't a connecting room. I am sure the views are the same though.

Hey chucklechops,

5522 is a great room. We went with a large family/friends...had 5520, 5522 & 5524.

5520 is non-connecting. At the time of our sailing (Jan 03), 5520 had the least amount of obstruction. It is the third room from the mid-ship elevators.

5522 is the second room from the forward elevator/stairs area - 5524 is first. 5522 had a large ‘platform’ that made it difficult to look down at the sea. 5524 was the most obstructed…two or more large barrels that are filled with lifesaving equipment.

IMO – these 3 rooms are in a wonderful location. Close to the forward elevator/stairs area and on the same level as the Kids clubs and the Buena Vista Theater. We did experience some noise outside these rooms…5524 was louder than the others. My Dmil took an electronic cart. There was a ‘hallway/corridor’ just starboard of the elevator/stairs area…Dmil was able to store and charge her ECV there. All in all, I’d choose these again…and again…and again.

Hope the thought of taking a cruise...warms you all up.

We stayed in that room on our last cruise and really liked it. The area is great and the free view cant be beat. We could hear a little chatter in the next room, but nothing that bothered us. Im sure it could be worse though with bad neighbors. ;)

You will be getting onto the ship as we are leaving it...we go 5/15-5/19/05!!! this will be our first cruise also, and we have been to WDW many times (we live 90 minutes away!)

I dont know too much about the secret porthole rooms, but i was able to get stateroom 7120 the partially blocked veranda room...at the price of a navagator veranda!! I'm so excited, i sure wish it was 5/05 already!!

We had Cabin 5522 on our last cruise. We had no problems with it and loved the cabin. The only negative was that you couldn't look down at the ocean...but other than that....it was great.

The only noise we heard from the adjoiner was like once or twice..was the parents SPEAKING to their children....as I'm sure there were times when they heard us SPEAKING to ours....if you get my drift!!!!!

As someone said....for a free view...you can't ask for much more!!

Phyllis

We'll have 5522 & 5524 on our cruise... thanks for the heads up, Barb!!! ;)

I happen to know those sailing in the other 4 SPRs on this cruise also... we're thrilled to have snatched these awesome staterooms!

We loved the room, we loved the location! There is very little hall traffic down that corridor.

I hope if I get to go on another cruise - that I can book this room again!

I had that room last year, and loved it, I also have 2 daughters, and it was very convenient to the kids club, it is a great location, and was very quiet, we did hear some noises from the neighbors, and I think that we just had noisy neighbors.
Your girls will love the cruise, mine like it so much that we are planning for #3

Dear all, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.
It's so exciting to see that people posted reply's to us.
It all sound's good, and having the girl's it look's like we could'nt be in a better situated cabin, which bring's me nicely onto the kid's clubs I think both my girls will be in the oceaneers club as they will be 8 & 9. could do with some info, as not really sure what's on offer.
Once again mega thank's to you all

Tracey:

Go back to barb's site, WWW.castawayclub.com, and click on "Navigators". then click on the cruise you are taking. This will bring up both the Adult and Children's navigators for your cruise. Disney does change things around sometimes but this should give you a pretty good idea of the activities for adults and children available on board. (thanks Barb...I love your site)

Thankyou jennifer, am about to go and have a look as soon as I post this. Oh well the ironing will have to wait for another day!!!!

You'll love it! Its really a great deal.

We were in 5022 this past November with my BIL / SIL in 5020 and MIL / FIL in 5024, so we got to see all three rooms.

5020 was the least obstructed view, but you can see a lot from any of them.

None of us had any issues with noise.

The location was great; just a few steps from the elevators and stairway. You'll be less than a minute walking distance from Walt Disney theatre and the gift shops.

It is also an easy walk to the dining rooms and the atrium.

Have fun!

Thanks for all the positive replies on cabin 5520. We have that cabin booked for our 7 night cruise. Glad to hear its good and no one has had any problems with it.:D

We had 5520 on our last cruise (3-day) and it was fine. Barely any problems with view actually barely an obstruction. The only problem is if they are doing maintenance or other work on that area then all you have to do is close the curtain.

We had 5522 2 years ago and had a very LOUD neighbor who would come in at all times of the night and their DD would cry a lot. She was small. We even had a beeping noise and called the room steward who heard it also. Come to find out it was their beeper (which they thought was lost). It had fallen behind the couch and the battery was going dead!
Now don't get me wrong- it wasn't as bad as it sounds- just a couple of times we were woken up but we have rebooked this same room for the Easter 2005 cruise!!
The way I see it is hit and miss. Maybe this time we will get QUIET neighbors!
Fot the price- go for it!
