Well, I didn't win the cabana lottery on my August Wish cruise. But I did email the consierge team this morning, and ask if there was a waitlist, and got this reply.

"You have been placed on our Concierge Cabana waitlist! As other Guests cancel their Cabana bookings, we pull from this waitlist in order. If a Cabana becomes available for you and your family, we will contact you!"

So you don't have to rush to guest services on boarding to get on the waitlist.
Probably not much chance of it happening but it's worth a shot.

Concierge automatically adds you to the waitlist if you requested one and didn’t get it during your initial 130 days requests. If you are not sailing in concierge you cannot be added to the waitlist until you get on board. Don’t give up hope though since you are concierge. We got 2 off the waitlist in September last year about 30 days before sailing after striking out for both of our concierge rooms at 130 days.

They also keep cabanas #1, 16 and 17 for onboard booking, so your chances are not only based on cancellations.

I’m a little confused about this. Does this mean these cabanas are kept for non concierge people to book onboard? Or for concierge people who didn’t get one? This is my first time in concierge and my 130 window just opened up yesterday. So right now I’m waiting to find out if my email got through ahead of enough other emails to get one. But I’m not really sure how all of it works, to be honest.

They are kept to be offered onboard first to Concierge guests (at the discretion of the concierge hosts concerning who they offer them to) and then by regular guests if no concierge guests want them. Cabana 1 being accessible, they prioritize disabled or low-mobility guests for that one.

Emails are handled in order they are received, and they distribute the cabanas to those who requested one in that order until they run out. If a disable guest requests a cabana, they will allocate #1 to that guest immediately. When they greet the concierge guests after they board, they will slip in conversation something like ‘I see you asked for a cabana and didn’t get one’, and if there still some interest, they eventually call the chosen ones to offer 16 and 17. If no one wants them, they‘ll then go to the waitlist managed by GS for regular guests.

^^ this . We sailed conceirge back in September. We booked late and cabanas were gone. We weren't worried about it and decided we didn't need one. Two days before our Castaway stop there was a flyer in the lounge the mentioned there were 2 cabanas available on the family beach. We snatched one up at that point. Not sure if the other went to a concierge guest or to the general wait list.

My guess - and it is just this - is that there are 2 or 3 held back.

If either a non-concierge guest who lucks into one cancels or a concierge guest cancels on their own without going through shoreside, there appears to be a time where it could be available and anyone looking could find it. If that person is shoreside it would go to a concierge guest first in the waitlist OR it could go to a person randomly checking at that moment.

Just a guess, but it makes sense in my head.

Do you recall what cabana you were assigned ?

As concierge I’ve always been able to get one from shoreside. No matter when I booked or when I asked. I’ve also seen them asking people in the lounge if they want one. So I would say they for sure go out of their way to offer them to those guests first.

However, I do think if someone just cancels online like you might without contacting shoreside the cabana will pop up like any other activity. Our July wish cruise appears to be close to full, so I’m sure this just makes it tougher. We aren’t concierge this time and we will just have to tough it out with no cabana I think. Haha. 😉

A non concierge getting a cabana on the Wish is virtually impossible
This is my perception as well. Curious, any additional success stories from guests sailing non-concierge who scored a cabana?

A non concierge getting a cabana on the Wish is a tall task
I continue to hear this and feel like I somehow lucked out yesterday. Gold and 3 months to sail and I just happened to check mid day and there it was. I was stunned. Couldn’t get it to go through so I thought someone else was snagging it as I was. It appears the error was I was trying to put in all of our party but I just selected myself, it went through and is indeed in “my plans” for that day. I know cause I keep looking to ensure It’s not a dream. 😂

On two of our past cruises I was able to randomly get a cabana, just checking at the right time I guess. Both times I released them into the wild because it was just DH and myself and we don't stay on CC that long anymore. On our cruise this past Feb. I did want one, we had the whole family and there were 7 of us. It just seemed it would be a good place to park and meet up. I was not able to get one before cruising. At boarding, I did stop at the customer services desk and was number one on the list. I told them I would even take the family cabana, that one would have been ideal. No cabana ever showed up.
It was a bit easier before when there were not as many concierge cabins however now that they have expanded the number, it is going to be 'near' impossible to get one if you are non-concierge. Not impossible but near.
Just keep checking the website before sail date incase someone does drop one and you can snag it in the moment.

My first cruise (Wish) coming up this summer; but reading here, I thought I understood that there was no interaction with the conseirge host on boarding anymore, they weren't at lunch? We had decided to skip the sit down on boarding and just get something light on pool deck since we have first seating. Maybe ride Aquamouse, then check out kids club, take a look at the lounge area after getting in cabin later.

The email I got said I had been placed on the conseirge cabana waitlist and they pulled from it in order. But are you saying I need to check in with a host at the conseirge lounge to get the opportunity to get a cabana off the waitlist if they have one available?

That might be a new procedure, or one specific to Wish. We’ve never done a Concierge cruise without the hosts greeting us upon boarding and going over the schedule ASAP, either at lunch or the lounge.
