Cabana Bay Standard Room VS Family Suite

Has anyone stayed in both room types? We will only be 2 adults and a 5 year old so we don't really need the extra space but was just curious if the suites are much nicer in general. Also what floor would you need to be on to walk directly to the food court, lobby etc without having to take an elevator? Thank you for any replies

We stayed in the CB family suite. At first our 8 and 10 year old daughters slept on the sleeper, but it was too uncomfortable for them so they moved to the second queen. We didn't spend much time in the room, so it seemed like the extra space was unnecessary. That said, we did eat a couple quick breakfasts in the room, so it wasn't a complete waste.

I assume you'd need to be one the first floor to avoid the elevator. We still had quite a long walk to the foot court and buses. It was even longer to the ferry at SF. We stayed in the towers, 4th floor I believe.

I'm pretty sure the furniture and appointments are all the same. The suite does give you a nice sitting area to watch TV. The kitchenette gives you options for meals prepared by yourself. We used it a lot for making oatmeal and nuked breakfast sandwiches.

Does the overall feel of the suite seem bigger? Some of the pictures make it look small because of the wall separating the bedroom from the living room. Also is the continental building as close to the food court area as the Americana building is?

Hi we have stayed in both and just stayed in the suite last week. We were in the Continental building by VB. As far as the food court both buildings are equal length so I don't see the building as much as location in either one making the difference. They both drop off in the lobby. We thought the suite seemed better. We did enjoy it more than the standard room. It was my DH, 2 teens and myself.

We've stayed in both standard rooms and tower suites. I expected to find the rooms really cramped and was pleasantly surprised that they were comfortable. BUT we really like the tower suites better. I love how the suites are organized with the kitchenette and living space up front and the more private bedroom space to the back. We use the living area like the mudroom with our shoes, purse, hats lying around and then the bedroom area is nice and clutter free. In the standard rooms the table and chairs and mini fridge were in the back of the room, so we had breakfast food and bottled water lying on the dresser and it just felt messier and harder to stay organized. Suites have a couch and armchair, which is so much nicer than always having to sit on a bed. (There are 2 plastic chairs in the rooms, but not something you'd want to sit on to watch tv.) I really love the closet in the suites, tons of room for suitcases, etc. The closets in the standard rooms are shallow and have the sliding doors where only 1/2 of the closet is accessible at one time. We only used the kitchenette in the suite for breakfast, but the microwave comes in surprisingly handy for oatmeal or heating up cinnabons from Citywalk, I really missed it when we were in a room. The only thing that might be an issue for you with a suite is that the bathroom vanity area is open to the whole bedroom area, so it's harder to get up and get ready before the rest of the family wakes up without turning lights on. (In the rooms the bathroom is all in one area and you can shut the door.) I think suites are definitely worth the upgrade, for us it's not so much about the extra space, they're just more comfortable and live-able imo. I would get a suite even if it was just 2 of us. You would need to be on the first floor to get to the food court without an elevator, but the elevators are huge and fast and pretty convenient.

The overall feel of the suite seems much bigger. Go on youtube and see videos of both. Photos don't convey the space well.

if you are going to be there for more than a day or 2 at max and the price difference is not a deal breaker I would go with the family suite. At 1 point in my life I said the same thing that space does not matter. Now I love any extra space I can get. Allows me to feel more relaxed.
