CABANA BAY BEACH RESORT Thread..........

I am wondering if anyone knows how often Cabana Bay rooms get a refurb and when they're next due? I love CB and won't stop going but our exterior family room last year was pretty tired.

There hasn't been a large scale "refurb" per se. However, it appears that they have done "refreshes" recently. I know that a little while ago (maybe a year or two ago?), we could see evidence of furniture being moved around and stored in some rooms. (The "storage rooms" had the curtains open and were visible while we were in the hot tub). On our next trip, we could see some small evidence of slight changes in the paint in the rooms and hallway carpet having been replaced. I think only those that stay at CB waaaaay too often would notice these things.

How horrible are the pull out couches in the family suites?
also curious. We've stayed at CB before but last time we only had one child and she was 3 and slept on it no issues.
But next year we now have two kids, we would prefer for them to have the two beds in the bedroom and for us to have the pull out by ourselves - but if it's uncomfortable that would have to change.

Question about the suites. I see that they have inside doors or outside doors. Most reviews seem to prefer the outside doors which surprises me. Thoughts?

I have only stayed in the exterior entry. The living area (couches & kitchenette) has the windows. My understanding is that for interior entry, the windows are in the bedroom area instead. I liked the windows in the living area, with the bedroom kept darker. Supposedly the exterior entry suites are quieter. Ours was quiet. The windows face the walkway so there will be occasional foot traffic past (more on the ground floor for sure). Interior entry would eliminate that entirely, except for ground floor.

The options are similar enough that you can choose based on whatever little criteria you like. They are in different locations, so if you have a preference to be near the walking path, the lazy river, Volcano Bay - that will depend on the suite type.

Yes I have stayed in the interior suite room and yes the windows are in the bedroom area. We prefer to be in the interior section due to the closeness to our favorite pool and the food court.

Last time we stayed in the exterior section (Motel). Our door lock broke and the fridge broke down. To Cabana Bay's credit they got us help and repaired both of these quickly.

True story. When the door lock broke we were back at night after a good night at the park. Maintenance came to get us into the room. We applauded the maintenance guy when he got the door unlocked. We got a smile and laughter from the maintenance team.

Just a quick note that the Bayliner diner has very good food options. We went twice and it was really good. We had two people who cannot eat spicy food. So we brought them food from Bayliner. They stated that it was very good especially at Comfort food.

I'm always surprised by the quality of the food - and the relatively reasonable price. Our first couple of stays at CB, we avoided the Bayliner, thinking that it was "food court food." But once we tried it, we were sold.

We stayed at Cabana Bay when the hurricane came through that area recently. The hotel was excellent in that they supplied food as normal and did their best to keep people entertained. The staff that remained were kind and informative as always. The life guards actually did their best to keep the kids entertained with various activities. We enjoyed seeing all of the dogs and one terrified cat (poor baby) in the lobby.

I was unsure about staying but no flights were available and we were assured that the buildings were well constructed. Cabana Bay continues to be awesome!

Just a few notes from our recent 4 night (10/31-11/4) stay:

1. Apparently, housekeeping only services the rooms every other day.
2. Because of #1, take a look at how many towels you have in your room when you arrive and request more if needed.
3. The teeney, tiny size of the garbage cans in the standard rooms is ridiculous if they aren't being emptied every day. (And no, I'm not emptying my own garbage can on vacation. I despise doing it at home, let alone on vacation.)
4. This is our second time in a row staying in a standard room and both times the mattresses were well beyond worn. I mentioned this in my post-stay survey and the manager's reply was that it is a known problem and they are being looked at, whatever that means.

I have to say that I've never understood the "rooms are worn" comments about CB until I stayed in the standard rooms. Now I see it.

I have mostly stayed at Aventura lately, but my CB stays in the standard rooms in the towers, the rooms were newer and less worn IMO. As a solo, I usually decline housekeeping and take my coffee cup or to-go food container to the large outside trashcans on my way out. Other than that I don't have much trash.

Will bell services hold your luggage while you’re at the park after checkout like Disney?
