Okay so I booked a cabana for a half day at the DLH. The cabanas by the monorail waterslides were booked so I reserved one by the e ticket pool. Couple questions... Do you think it's worth it? Can the kids go back and forth from the waterslides to the e ticket pool without going out a gate? Any other thoughts?? Thanks in advance :) :)

Your children will not have to go through a gate to go to your cabana by the eTicket pool. If they are really young and you want to keep an eye on them, you will not be able to see them from the cabana at your location. As far as value??? I would think it would be very valuable if the pool is crowded and most of the regular lounge chairs are filled, or the ones available are in the sun.

Have you rented one before?? I was telling my DH about it and he hasn't really sold on it yet. I don't want to waste $100 if it's not really worth it :( so confused!

DH and I have rented twice and are planning to do so again in September (though we will be renting at the GCH pool in Sept since we will be staying there). We have loved it both times. The first time DH and I went with my folks and we had several friends join us. There was plenty of room and we didn't have to worry about trying to get that many chairs together.

The second time, was this past June (Carsland opening weekend) and it was just DH, DS (4 months) and I. We had an amazing time and DH could have the US Open on the TV. Plus we were able to request a pack n play for DS to take a nap in, so that was awesome.

As for whether or not is was worth it, the first time, it definitely was since the pool was really crowded (since it was Disneyland half marathon weekend) and we had a bunch of people. The 2nd time it was not crowded at the pool, so we could have had chaises easily, but having a safe place for DS to nap in the shade made it worth it for us (plus DH really wanted to be able to see the US Open without having to sit in the room.)

Be sure to call and let the cabana concierges know if you are celebrating anything and who your kids' favorite characters are. You never know, there might be a few surprises in the cabana. ;)

Oh and be prepared for others jealousy. heh We had a lot of people who wanted to know why we got a cabana and they didn't. lol

Pikaboo - thanks for the review. Just curious since it sounds like you were there at the same time as I am going. Was the DLH pool crowed labor day/half marathon weekend and the following week? We're thinking about doing a pool day the Thurs after labor day and wondering how crowded it will be. If its easy to get chairs it may not be worth it. However the Pack n Play thing is a huge plus if the baby can nap in there, that may sell the idea for me!

Baygirl, I can't speak to the crowds during the week. Last year (and this year again) we came down on Friday and left on Monday. Sunday afternoon (when we had the cabana) it was very crowded at the pool with lots of people trying to recover from the half marathon that morning. I don't know how busy it would be on Thursday, but if it is hot, you will be grateful for the shade and the ceiling fan in the cabana (not to mention the ice cold water in the fridge, included with the price of the cabana.)

When I put DS down for a nap in the cabana, I just closed the "walls" up and turned on the fireworks channel (since it plays disney instrumentals during the day) and he had his own little "room" while DH and I sat under an umbrella on the chaise lounges reserved for us in front of the cabana. OK, technically, it was two umbrellas. The cabana concierges brought over a second when one wasn't enough. LOVE those guys/girls!

Aloha,

Which Cabana location (Slides or Main Pool) is the preferred location and why? Appreciate recommendations. Thank-you.

It sort of depends on what you are looking for. The ones near the slides tend to be louder. They are very near the monorail slides and the area around the bottom of the slides is pretty shallow and acts as a toddler pool especially when the waterfall is going. So there will be a lot of screaming and laughter. But if you want to be able to see your kids easily, it's the place to pick. Also, this one is closer to Trader Sam's Tiki Bar if one of the adults wants to slip away to experience a Shipwreck the way it should be experienced.

The ones near the e-ticket pool are quieter. So if that is what you are looking for, it's a great choice. However, you would not be able to see the kids easily if they want to ride the slides. Oh, these ones are also closest to the restrooms. I also think these have a better view. Since you are farther from the monorail pool you get the view with the beautiful bridge and the slides with the old fashioned Disneyland sign.

So what's "preferred" really depends on what you are looking for. :-)

Hope this helps.

All the information is wonderful!! We have reserved one by the e ticket pool. My DH was reluctant at first but I had him at couch and shade :) can't wait. I will post pics after our trip.

Aloha Pikaboo27,

Thank-you very much for your outstanding reply! You painted a very clear picture for me. We shall go for the Cabana by the Main Pool.

This is great thanks for all the information! Just one more quick question - is there a menu to order off of in the cabanas? If so, any ideas what is offered? Thanks!

At the cabanas you can get anything off the poolside menu, anything off the Tangaroa Terrace menu and anything off the Trader Sam's menu. Basically, they aim to please. You can check out the menus for Trader Sam's and Tangaroa Terrace on www.allears.net.

A couple of stand outs, the pu pu platter at Trader Sam's is awesome. As are the panko crusted green beans and the lettuce wraps. Oh and I almost forgot the Kalua pork flatbread. YUM!

For drinks, my husband enjoys the Shipwreck and the Shrunken Zombie Head from Trader Sam's. I prefer the non alcoholic Schweitzer Falls (named after famed explorer Dr. Albert Falls). You can also get Rosita's Margharita (I wonder whatever happened to her?) but it has cinnamon on it. Weird.

Anyways, hope this helps.

When I called the priority seating number they transferred me to guest services.

I would like to know if you have to be on site guest to rent these. At WDW, you can rent the ones at most of their pools without having to be staying at the hotel. Just wondering if it was the same thing on the opposite coast. Thanks!

You would have to be staying at the hotel to rent a cabana.

We're doing this in a month so I'll take pictures and post after our trip. I did find some info and posted it I think in the DLH superthread. So looking forward to our cabana day!
